Purdy had a bad game. Made some bad decisions and was put in some bad situations. Should he get benched not yet. However, no denying that Dekkers does allow some different options and definitely makes the defense cover more of the field. That dude has a legit arm.

Right now we don't have a Top 25 team, we HAD a Top 10 preseason ranking. A team needs to earn their ranking each year and right now we haven't earned squat.

On-paper, a preseason #7 that survived in game 1, then lost to #10 team probably stays in top 25, but this team hasn't played (or looked) like a bonafide top 25 team so far.

You guys need to calm the F*** down. as an Iowa fan, ISU has a damn good team that turned the ball over again. Brock is a stud and better than Petras at this point. Breece is also a very good back but fumbled at a horrible time. ISU lost, but they are also favored to win the big 12. Go beat the S**T out of OU and TX. F the SEC. make some noise and believe in your team. Today was iowas day, but that does not mean ISU will not win the big 12.

No. He had one good drive in garbage time. Seems like everyone is forgetting the two 3 and outs right after he entered the game that basically killed any chance we had.

Here's my assessment on Purdy after seeing him two games in a row now. He can't stretch the field vertically. Two of the worst deep balls I've seen at D1 in a long time today. He throws it as hard as he can, with poor trajectory and no spiral. Purdy needs to play dink and dunk and use his mind to beat you, but he missed two huge runs on the read option by keeping the ball instead of giving it up. One to Breece and One to Jirehl. Sure the balls that were intercepted were deflected but even those weren't good throws. His timing was off, he has a hard time finding throwing lanes over our huge lineman, and Hall and Kolar aren't 100%.

Dekkers takes away much of the problems with our offense. He can stretch the field, he was on time with his route progressions, he was accurate, he can throw over the line, he can run. I think the decision is easy. Brock is a good QB, but not against good defenses.

East of Neptune, IA.
Sucks that we lost, especially when we gift wrap it for the hoks. Their defense was as advertised, but their offense is extremely average. Borderline bad.

Play calling by Manning and decision making by Purdy was horrible. Great that Brock is throwing the ball away more, but he could have run the ball and picked up yards on several plays.
Quit throwing deep. Not your game.

I just hope that the Cyclone team that thrashed Oregon is not reading too many press clippings.

Yes. But he won't. I'll be shocked if we see much of Dekkars the rest of the year.

But I do think he showed a lot more zip on the ball than Brock ever has and definitely has the stronger arm. It certainly wouldn't hurt to open up the down field passing game more.

Like I said though, it's not happening.
