It's not a system thing.

You can spread out a defense with ISU's system with consistency in your tempo, not just speeding it up. Complimentary football. Playing forward with your best players and being the hammer.

RE: If Purdy doesn't know what his identity is at this point that's bad management from a coaching stand point.

I can tell you this——unless we luck out and get to the Big 10, I’m in favor of dropping this game. I did not miss it last year and it is no fun. Since our new conference is so great, no need to play Iowa.

Chris always appreciate you and Your teams work. Thanks for all you guys do.

CMC was pissed but I think mostly at himself. It’s not just the TOE game but also UNI. Just like he was pissed at the defense a few years ago and they came up with the three man front. I think we see a similar change in the offense. I trust the coaches to figure out how but you hit on a few key concepts. I think we become simpler, faster and start changing tempo up. I almost wonder if we’re too complicated with guys thinking too much?

Maybe this loss winds up spurring some change and innovation that pays off down the road.

Generally, I think our offense has been playing “not to lose” instead of playing to win.

I really haven’t understood why tempo is such a problem.

I get it when you’re playing high powered offenses, and you want to try to break their rhythm. So it isn’t a big deal then.

but Iowa and uni are similar in their philosophies. Allowing them the regroup after every play just defeats anything you are trying to establish.

ISU's personnel isn't made for uptempo and doesn't have to be. You need OU type of receivers or whatever to really get things going.

Consistency. Rhythm. Take what's there, move the chains, and make the play when it comes up.

Right now after listening to you guys talk about doing the same thing against Iowa offensively that they do against the big 12.

if we keep doing the same things (both offensively and on special teams) against Iowa and keep expecting to win…we’re now bordering on insanity.

I have some concerns about this offense moving into Big 12 play as in theory, defenses should have more experience, personnel, etc. against this style of offense. I’m willing to admit they are small concerns at this point though.

I think you can be up tempo and run the ball. I think we may be too cerebral. We lack execution more than anything. Going up tempo causes the defenses to make mistakes and will open up some big plays for us.

I’m not saying we go crazy fast, it just seems our rhythm is too slow and plodding. We try to make too many adjustments. Gives the defense time to regroup. We’re thinking too much every time we make those adjustments. This leads to mistakes and turnovers on our part
