You can "reassign" seomeone to an analyst role if you don't want to fire them. I don't believe there is a limit on the number of analysts (see Bama as an example).
Take away a couple of deflected balls and we're probably 2-0. Bring on the UNLV chum.

Maybe have a head set and one of the staff members runs to a person in a section and gives them the head set to call the play. Would need to supply play books or formations and strange names would happen. And we'll have a play ready to go to get out of that situation.
You can do that but then they can't be on the field during practice and they can't recruit. This isn't as cut and dried as you want it to be.

Number 3 cost us this game, number 2 was also a factor. But ISU can out “Iowa” Iowa. We have the team for it, giving them more possessions, short fields and scope and score TD’s negates that. And we still only lost by 10. Barring unknown injuries, this team will be fine and has history backing it up.I've not posted much post game, too emotional about it. But finally, three things wrt Iowa and this game:
1. Stop playing checkers with the guy who invented the game of checkers. Do something, anything, to speed up and mess up the game. You can't out-Ferentz Ferentz.
2. You can't just forfeit a third of the game (ie special teams) and expect to beat disciplined teams.
3. Guys gotta execute. Brock was bad. Breece and X both made fatal errors.
I am much more concerned with 1 and 2 than 3. 3 happens sometimes, but the others are kind of unforgiveable, given they are continuing problems.
I was at the game, so I'm sure I missed several instances, but I counted at least 5 plays where Purdy needed to throw the ball but none of the receiving "options" were even out of their breaks. That's a fundamental flaw in both design and play calling. It's rare you should ever have a play in your book where their isn't a hot route option but even if you do you can't be calling such plays when you know your QB likely doesn't have the protection to make those plays possible.
We are setting our QBs up for failure before the ball is even snapped.
The problem was the Iowa Defensive line Manhandled our Offensive Line giving poor ol' Brock Purdy No place to throw the football...My question is ...Was Purdy Hurt? Why didn't Purdy just run for the first downs that were available?....Did TM tell him to just stay in the Pocket?......
Forgot about the limits but it's not that hard to circumvent. I'd either can Manning or reassign Gordon as an "analyst" to stay within the limit. It's not nearly as difficult as you are making it seem.
Cut and dried from a "snap of the fingers" standpoint? Of course not. Cut and dried in that it's obvious we have a glaring need and the solution obviously isn't on the current coaching staff? Absolutely. Making tough decisions is part of his job.
You are just clueless and come on here and bash the best thing to ever happen to ISU. Man you may make the top of my ignore leaderboard of worst CF posters and that is an achievement.
It isn't about being satisfied with what happened either. Saturday sucked, we got outplayed, it happens - even Ohio State got outplayed by Oregon Saturday by a QB that we had zero issues with in the bowl game. You talk about Iowa having a stud punter that will be in NFL for 20 years (highly unlikely by the way), but then blame it on lack of special teams coach that we don't. If everyone else has that good of special teams coach there shouldn't be any punting jobs in NFL because they are all filled with 20 year guys from all the other schools. Crawl back under your troll bridge and get back to playing with the goats.
Speaking of clueless, I like how you can't even accurately address my points.
I never said Campbell hasn't been great for the program or school. What I did say, have said in the past, and will likely say going forward is that it has been inexcusable for Campbell to not bring in a STs coordinator as it has been, is, and will likely to be a problem in the future. If the answer to these issues was on our staff they wouldn't continue to be issues over and ENTIRE SIX YEAR period.
As for the rest of your garbled post I'm not even sure what you are getting at. I think Iowa having great special teams and consistently having great special teams is a product Ferentz having a specialized coach that is able to mold it into a unit of strength. I'm sorry that confounds you.
When you don't even know the rules and you get on here and act all high and mighty that you know what needs to be done and Pollard needs to force Campbell to change his staff you are clueless.
Again, which on the field coach is going away then to make room for your former analyst to be an on the field coach? You either have to do that or combine two other position groups to do what you propose.
Guys like you make CF suck.

yet again, you all you do is complain and no solution. Who are you going to fire or what position groups are you now combining?
I think I'll trust Campbell on how to organize his staff rather than someone who doesn't even know the rules.
Now you are just making things up or again don't know the history. In the last several years Iowa has had special teams ranked highly, but that is not the case of Coach Ferentz's tenure. He has had multiple years where his special teams are rated poorly statistically. But don't use the facts just keep making stuff to fit your narrative.
