Well, Campbell seemed upbeat after the game. Everything is fine. “We’re not results driven”. Cool.

Two years ago we weren’t winning the close games last year we did. I Sure it’s disappointing but it sure does beat how things looked under rhodes and chizik. this loss is all on punt and kickoff coverage because in 2 plays they gained almost 150 yards and 10 points. The coaching staff has to adjust this but players still have to make the plays.

It seems like we have quite a few losses where we outgain opponents so I looked it up:

'21:
Loss to Baylor: + 187 yards
Loss to Iowa: + 166 yards

'20:
Loss to Louisanna: +31 yards
Loss to OK State: -72 yards
Loss in B12CG to OU: +43 yards

--- If we cut it off there the odds of that are astronomical, '19 is a little less crazy but still about even in our losses in total yards.

'19:
Loss to Iowa: +105 yards
Loss to OK State: +66 yards
Loss to Baylor: +35 yards
Loss to OU: -22 yards
Loss to ND: -183 yards (the only loss in three seasons where easily outgained.

Outside of Notre Dame beatdown loss and close B12CCG loss we're pretty much exclusively losing games with special teams and turnovers giving our opponents wildly better field position. Today's was even more crazy because with penalties we outgained them by something like 250 yards.

It's a good stat in that it means we lose close with one exception...but it is just crazy to have such a high % of losses come in games where you rush and pass for more than your opponent, sometimes by a drastic amount.

I would love to see the difference in special team yardages.

Everyone (players/coaches) is proud of not giving up. Wtf? I’d love to hear - “it’s ******* ******** to lose. Some guys need to man up if we want to reach the goals we set. This is unacceptable.”

Sucks hearing that as fans, but I'm willing to bet they're saying something completely different behind closed doors.

That’s a sign of a respected coach by his players. He will never call out players in public but behind closed doors you better believe its a different story. As a former high school assistant football coach for 17 years I always believed what ever happens at practice stays at practice and never show a player up in public.

Going off memory hear but here’s how this staff starts seasons:
0-6 vs Iowa
G5 loss vs LA
FCS loss and OT win vs UNI
1-5 in Big 12 openers.

They need to scrap what they do in camp and start over. No reason for a team that has been one of the best in the country in October to basically be Vanderbilt in September.

And Campbell has done fairly well (historically speaking) vs. OU, but we can't wait around for that surge this season, since the game is in November.
