Except it's not news. It's internet rumors, which has a pretty terrible track record when realignment is involved.
We have to be careful with internet rumors. Internet rumors were the cause of World War I.

Yeah, but those semi-finals might be worth just about as much as the first playoff round. It's worth it even if it means losing out on a CFP every 10 years or so.
I think what they will do is, play 8 conference games, then on semifinal wknd, they will have the pod winners play the semi's and match up the remaining teams based on pod standings for their 9th conference game. Kind of like what the big 10 tinkered with last year. Not all of the games would be great but it's a nice way to set up some TV friendly matchups.

IZ thus becumming and edubicated thred?I never did believe those tweets about the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand.
Which I think would've been cool. But if they create an additional entire slate of conference games at the end of the season I'd think they'd have to then lose an OOC game, no? If not that'd create 13 "regular season" games before the CCG and bowls.
It'd be interesting if they actually took that step. One thing it does is risks a CFP spot. If a Bama and/or a Georgia are upset in the semis, and a two- or maybe even three-loss semifinalist catches lightning and wins out, there'd be no guarantee they'd get a CFP spot as long as it's at four. That'd be a costly outcome.
I'm still trying to figure out the thread title.
AHHHH... Now I get it...Yea its a bit like the bracket buster stuff in CBB. That BYU/CC game last year shoed it can be done
OP "hates to be the guy spreading internet rumors...."

#1 doesn't align with #2. You can't do pods with 14 schools.1. There are talks about changing the divisions that have been heating up with how one sided they have been for the last decade. I haven't heard anything concreate but pods have been floated around.
2. There is still no serious talk of expansion and if it was it would certainly come from within the "alliance" schools so that part is completely misinformed.
well Franklin said this recently

For real. I could see them having these games in Atlanta, New Orleans, Dallas, Nashville. Could be a huge money maker. Sort of becomes a defacto CFP at that point.Yeah, but those semi-finals might be worth just about as much as the first playoff round.
