Gundy, like Miles, is a good fit @LSU.

USC at a minimum needs to call Chris Peterson.

Urban Meyer has shown me no one is every truly retired. Any major university looking for a couch should make that call and hear the no for themselves before giving up on him. Excellent coach!

I'd call Chris Peterson and maybe even ring up Jack Del Rio.

whats the difference between Illinois, Purdue, Minnesota or Michigan State as far as a football coaching destination? Colors are about the only difference. All of them are nondescript middling big ten schools.

now basketball might be different.
Past football success is the first thing i can think of. We have 3 big ten titles, 1 playoff appearance, are 6-2 in bowl games, and had 5 seasons of at 10 wins, all in the last decade. That isn't counting the current 7-0 season and another top ten ranking. Add in the fact that every scholarship player gets a guaranteed 6K endorsement from alumni and I think you would be hard pressed to find more then a handful of schools with the same level of success in the last decade. Again I doubt cambell will leave and LSU is one of the couple of jobs that are for sure better (however the coach turnover is bad) but trying to say we are in the same category as purdue, or illinois is a joke.

You guys are the Navy helmets with yellow stripe things right? Bigger rival with tOSU than “little brother” from their own state. Harbaugh hasn’t been that bad really!

Don't know if it was mentioned earlier in the thread, but I read today that Franklin just switched agents. General reaction is that it likely signals a move of some sort for him.

USC fans would not like Campbell as their coach. They wouldn’t care at all for the ball control offense. The conservative approach would be second guessed on a national level. They wouldn’t care for all the talk about culture. They would definitely not care for the recruits he brings in. They expect 5star recruits and will do anything to get them.
I’d be willing to bet with our results he would have been fired if at USC. The UNI game would have put him on the hot seat. The Iowa game would have put him on notice and the AD giving him public support. The Baylor game result he would be fired.

You're probably right except for the recruiting and playing style. It's not like Campbell would continue to recruit 3star guys from Ohio if he was at SC. He would get the 4 and 5 star players. If he had that kind of talent I expect he would open his offense up a little more.

I haven't read through this whole thread but I find the fact that Mike Tomlin is on Carson Palmer's wish list interesting as Mike Tomlin has no ties to USC. Grew up in Virginia, Went to William & Mary and has pretty much coached in the NFL ever since.
He's just 49, I forgot how young he was when The Steelers hired him.
