The McRib always reminds me of one of our school lunch offerings back in the day...."rib shape on a bun". Let's just say our school district needed a bit of help in the "marketing" of their food.
I'll admit it. I love the McRib. Don't care what part of the animal it comes from, or whatever animal that may be. It is messy and delicious. Can't eat just one.
I remember when the McRib came out as a kid in the early '80s. You could get packets of clear hot sauce to add to them.

Hickory Parks version is the Saucy Southerner just chopped up pork and BBQ sauce, where as the McRib is pork "formed" to look like ribs.
