Having a hard time getting excited for this. Prohm era took a lot of joy out of watching ISU basketball for me. But hopefully once I start watching tonight that will change.

There is some excitement that comes with having a fresh start.

The start of the Fred era isn't an exact comparison, simply because Fred was already an ISU superstar, but you saw marked improvement in a season where the record said otherwise, and there was no doubt things were on the right track.

That's what I'm looking for this year. Play with more effort, see how the newcomers do, see how TJ handles things, see if the Prohm holdovers are benefitting at all from new coaching.

This will be a season for the diehards.

Everyone going to the game enjoy your walk in to Hilton tonight. Probably will never be this warm again the rest of the season.

There's similarities to Campbell's first year, too. Obviously didn't win many games and even started out rough, but as the year went on you could rapidly see improvement in scheme and identity, performance on-field was visibly going up, scores were tightening up with less blowout losses, stats getting better. You could perceive the actual direction and improvement. That's all we can hope for in bball this season.

Definitely. And you saw that with Fred's first year. Fewer blowouts, a lot of close games they lost simply by being outmanned. Better flow on offense and guys more comfortable with their roles.

While losing obviously sucks, sometimes it's nice to have ones like this where theres not a lot at stake. No matter what happens we're probably not going to have to talk about wins and losses a ton, firing coaches, our placement in the Big 12 hierarchy, postseason births, etc. All we have to worry about it watching the games for this season only

I don't want to do this again any seasons coming up because if we are then that's obviously not a good thing, but rebuilding years where all your asking for is improvement through the season is the best type of season you can ask for short of ones where you're expected to win and do or years where you win games by surprise(easily the most fun)

Kennesaw State once cost my company a business opportunity. The story would bore you but let's beat those stinkin' Owls.

I'm interested to see the new guys. I have zero expectations for the year because we haven't seen any of these guys.

Ah shite, I just realized I posted in a thread on the Basketball forum rather than the Football forum. My bad.

Please get a conference win this year. Preferably a bunch.
It's OK. I give West Coast Oregon fans my special one time discount, 50% off. Customers for life. I like their off-centeredness.
