Should J. Brock be getting more carries?

Just wondered what others are thinking about J. Brock. He gets quite a few snaps, but rarely gets to carry the ball. 14 carries for 60 yards this season. In November he has 3 carries for 3 yards. Of course a lot of his carries have been near the end of games when the other team is sending everyone to stop the run. Just curious what others think.

No. We have the best back in college football. He get's breathers only until about 25 carries.

I'd like to see him get more carries at the end of games when they're in hand, but I also understand wanting to get reps to Silas or Sanders. I'll be curious to see if Brock is the man next year, or if it's more tandem-back split between those 3

Nah, he fills a nice role. Breece has been very durable, so no need to limit his carries.

It does seem like the Freshman RB get more carries in blowouts than Jirehl does. I wonder why that is (are they better, or just want experience). I do hope Brock sticks around to be the man when Breece leaves. After seeing Montgomery go pro and Breece go pro, I'm sure he will stick around (unless he knows he's beaten out).

I debate this with my friend a lot...he's of the thought Brock needs used more (and also said the same about Kene)...but there is also a reality of only so many snaps/opportunities in a game.

Definitely would like to see more run opportunities for Jirehl Brock, especially when the game isn't on the line. Assuming he is a good teammate and doing his part behind the scenes, it would be a good reward for playing behind a clear #1.

Yes, we have the best RB1 in CFB and yes, Jirehl Brock should get a few more carries per game.

Brock will have a great year next season, Dekkers being a big QB that will excell in the pocket makes Brock a great every down back.

I think he strictly needs more carries, so its not such a dead giveaway that we are passing. Easier said than done though because if its not a passing down its tough to take Breece out of the game.

Jihrel is going to be 1,000 yard back next year. Dude is a complete three down back, but can't help that he's stuck behind an all world guy in Breece.

When the game is close, you have to ride your All American (so long as his carry total is reasonable). It would be nice to get some breathing room and get Brock some more touches (and the other backs). He's still filling an important role when he comes in.

Hall is one of the best running backs in the country -- he gets every touch he can.

Seeing the other RBs on the roster play well makes me feel better for the future, though. Hall is not going to be here much longer. Nice not feeling we're bound for a "succession crisis" after the reign of King Hall, sort of like how we fretted about the position when David Montgomery left for the NFL early.

Can we all just take a breath here? There is only message board speculation so far that Breece wouldn't play in a bowl game. Let's let the season continue to play out a bit.

As far as J. Brock, I think what we are seeing is a player that is kind of being hurt by the system he's in. Iowa State wants to win in the margins. Well, they still aren't good at that, so we are seeing a lot of close games. You can't give playing time to backups when the game is still teetering in the balance, save for an occasional breather which is what we're seeing now. It could also be, as others have stated, simply the fact that our RB1 is Breece Hall. If it were someone else, almost anyone else, I bet we'd see more of a time share. But it's Breece, legitimately a top 5 RB in the sport.
