If ... ISU wins out (@OU, TCU).

How confident can anyone be that we win both these games? We are a dog at OU, and we are at risk of having 2002-UConn like energy for the TCU game if the student section is light and the weather sucks.

Until proven otherwise, I am going to ignore any argument that includes the phrase "if Iowa State wins out". If this team can lose to WV and TT, they can lose to anyone in the conference.

Okay. In crunching the remaining games for the teams ahead of us: If OU loses out (ISU, @Okie St), Baylor loses out (@KSU, TTech), KSU wins out (Baylor, @texas), and ISU wins out (@OU, TCU).

In the above scenario, we have a 3 way 6-3 tie for 2nd place which in my understanding is then decided by records vs teams who are tied (mini-round-robin).

ISU would be 2-0 vs said teams and the other two would be 1-1, 0-2 in this scenario. So we'd play Okie St for all the marbles. Hey, it could happen.

This is obviously the easy part, besides winning the CCG once this happens. But then how do we get back in the CFP picture.

I mean all we really need to do is win out and it takes care of itself! stumbling blocks amirite?

By the way, early money is rushing toward Iowa State for the Oklahoma game. Line is down to -5 after opening at -8.5.

Beat Oklahoma and hope Kansas State beats Baylor. That keeps us alive. Either of those things don’t happen, we’re out no matter what.

Root for Texas Tech to beat Oklahoma State. Assuming the Cowboys win anyway, in the final week we’ll need Texas Tech to beat Baylor, Oklahoma State to win Bedlam, and for ISU to beat TCU.

If Tech does upset Oklahoma State we will have a couple paths, both of which require beating TCU. One path is Texas Tech beating Baylor. Bedlam wouldn’t matter except to determine our CCG opponent. The other path would be for Kansas State to beat Texas and for Oklahoma to win Bedlam. The Tech-Baylor game wouldn’t matter.

Interesting. That's a big move...

This ship has sailed my friends…we’re just playing for a better bowl, more recruiting cred, and pride. Maybe we win our last 2 and end up in Orlando against a quality opponent. This team just didn’t get it done this year- getting ranked 7th in the pre-season poll was the kiss of death.

Cancel the plane tickets to DFW- not happening this year.

Okay. Thanks for posting this. This clarifies things. Tech needs to come through for us big time.

I can't! If there's still a chance...

Good for you. I won't actually be surprised if we beat OU next week, nor will I be surprised if we leave another floater against TCU. My trust, and therefore my optimism, has been exhausted with this team. I don't think they know who is going to show up week to week, so I sure as hell don't.

They could beat OU this week and I wouldn't be confident in a win the next week either way.

The fact that both ISU and Iowa can still make their conference championship tells you all you need to know about this college football season……. it sucks! The quality of play is WAY down.

I wouldn’t either, but look at the games we’ve lost. Three of them have been road games that a lot of us had circled before the season as potential stumbling blocks. The thing that really sucks is that we managed to stumble over all of them except the K-State game.

I don't believe WV and Tech were seen as stumbling blocks.

This team can't put together two good games in a row and that likely won't change.

Williams talked about the West Virginia game being one before the season started. Most of the national writers mentioned the Tech game being tricky sandwiched between Texas and Oklahoma. I thought Baylor would be tough because of our history with them.

K-State is our only conference road win. We’ve been good at home outside of the Iowa game.

I could easily see this team beat OU and lose to TCU. In any scenario, I don't think we win both. Haven't been consistent enough this year.
