There have many decades when we never saw a bowl game and now we are ******** that we are going to bowl game. Some people on this board need to take a step back and realize just how far this program has come. 8-win season would still be the 3rd best year behind the two 9-win seasons.

I’m hoping we drop to the Armed Forces Bowl in Fort Worth. 10 hour drive and before Christmas. That works for me.

I haven't been to one since Houston in 2005 so was certain I would go this year. Now going to depend on location and if I can convince someone to go with me. Honestly would not mind Memphis just because could maybe make a side trip to Nashville or some distilleries while in that area but ideally the Alamo bowl would be preferred. Disappointed because I passed up on Vegas to use funds for a bowl game with the assumption we'd be in a good one.

The only negative with Memphis IMO is the potentially cold weather like we had there before. Otherwise it's a great bowl location with a lot to do and see. AND they love having ISU in town.
Houston and Orlando are not great for concentrating the fans in one location so not ideal, but both are warm .... so there's that.

Houston
Houston is a terrible city, unless you love concrete.
One thing Houston has going for it in late December is warm weather, golf, and fajitas. Show up a couple days before. It averages about 50 degrees at your 9 a.m tee time. Kick back late afternoon with temps approaching 60 degrees, and have Dos Equis and beef fajitas at one of the million Mexican restaurants. Houston is a little warmer than San Antonio or Dallas at tee time. Still, the 50 degrees will feel like 80 degrees coming from cold Iowa.

Sh*t, I’d go to Memphis. FYI I’ve never been to a bowl game before.

Don't let the haters make you think Memphis wouldn't be fun. I'm sure there'd be a few less Iowa State fans than normal, but it is an easy drive, the city is really fun, I feel like we'd be due for some good weather.

what a huge disappoint are fans just satisficed with a bad season

What would boycotting a bowl game prove to anyone? Do you think the coaches and players would suddenly decide they don't have to try next year? Do you think the players would be any less disappointed?

Sure, but there a lot of places that can say the same thing. As far as the city itself, it’s pretty terrible.

I would call it more apathy than revenge/boycott

That wasn't the post I was responding to.

The poster clearly said that fans are satisfied with a disappointing season, implying that no one should go to the bowl game to show the players and coaches that they suck.
