Not worried…. CMC will leave whenever he wants…. nothing I can do about it.

I just hope when he does leave that he takes Manning with him. I’d rather have Scheelhause as our next coach than Manning.

It’s unlikely he’s going to get promoted to head coach. Although TJ did leave and come back because he was in line to replace Fred.

hmmm

It just depends on how close Scheelhouse and Jamie have gotten.

Same as it ever was. There will always be a better job out there than us. If Campbell wants brighter lights, more fertile recruiting grounds, and more dollar signs, he'll have opportunities. If he wants to be Bill Snyder or Frank Beemer, build something out of nothing and end up with a statue out in front of the stadium, we're his ticket.

My only hope is that coaches who Matt Campbell said he admires are coaches like Kirk Firentz, Mike Gundy, and Gary Patterson. Those are all program building and long-term coaches. Please be that for us Matt, please
Ferentz should not be admired... but I get your point.

I keep coming back to this every offseason when rumors about CMC start. Everytime he's asked which coaches he looks up to/admires he mentions Patterson, Ferentz, and Snyder. 3 guys that took over mid-market programs and built them over decades and became legends for staying at a single program rather than jumping ship to a more prestigious program or the NFL.

Campbell could very well leave. But every indication he's ever given is that he plans to be ISU's Gary Patterson.

Here's why I'm not worried...this is the absolute worst time in the history of history for ISU to lose Matt Campbell. ISU football is beset on all sides with some new and scary sh*t: the transfer portal, NIL, realignment, a juiced and asymmetrical facilities arms race...

If the ISU AD has to give until it hurts badly they'll do it to keep Matt at least for some period of time until CFB calms down a bit. If Matt goes we could be in serious trouble.

I'd say this is the best rationale to actually be worried.

I get the joke, but Scheelhaase is regarded as a rising star.

Idk if he'd be ready to take over for Campbell right now, but we could do worse.

If I am Franklin, why would I want the USC job (except better weather, and hotter chicks)? Football wise, PSU is far more attractive than USC.

Nothing against Nate, but is there something people are referring to when he's being looked at as the anointed heir? I know he's got some recruiting ties, but from a playcalling perspective, are people basing this on anything?
