The real questions is; Will Brock grad transfer to LSU when Campbell is there?
LSU would’ve beaten Bama a few weeks ago if Brock was their QB. Outside Joe Burrow and Jamarcus Russell, LSU has critically under-recruited QBs the past two decades.

Nothing against Nate, but is there something people are referring to when he's being looked at as the anointed heir? I know he's got some recruiting ties, but from a playcalling perspective, are people basing this on anything?

That he's not Manning?

And obviously Campbell likes him since he keeps getting promoted.

If I am Franklin, why would I want the USC job (except better weather, and hotter chicks)? Football wise, PSU is far more attractive than USC.
You forgot more money and a more robust recruiting base...but you had me at hotter chicks...

I'm trying to see if there's anything other than "not Manning". I'm pleading ignorance on the matter as I don't fully know his background or what he can do as a playcaller or HC.

Nice.

I would find the shirt's "firmly entrenched" press conference more believable than Gene's.
Talking about shirts, look at this bad boy.

Would you rather play Stanford, Cal and the Arizonas every year, or Ohio St, Mich, and MSU? Similar perception, but much lighter load.

SIAP, and please merge if necessary.

Found this article this morning regarding the LSU coaching search being down to 3 candidates, with Campbell being one of the three.

As an alum at both ISU and LSU, I don't see it being Campbell. There is a pretty significant portion of the fanbase that likes the idea of Campbell and he may do well at LSU, but the cultural fit for the family in Baton Rouge would be horrible.

It seems the predominant thought on the LSU boards that Woodward has zeroed in on Lincoln Riley and it is all but done. Not sure I agree or like that idea. I would definitely take Aranda over Riley. Yes, Aranda HC experience is lighter but he is a better coach. Riley does well in the Big 12 but struggles against truly elite programs. LSU wants their next coach to consistently win the SEC West and be in the playoffs. I don't think Riley is that guy.

LSU isn't even taking that hard of a look at Napier according to a lot of people who say they are in the know.

Not sure why I'm responding to this because Riley going to LSU doesn't seem even possible to me. I mean, he's already going to the SEC (eventually), he has plenty of fertile recruiting areas, has probably the hottest young quarterback among plenty of 4 or 5 stars returning, and is a top 10 team most every year.
What could attract him to LSU? And don't just say money. lol

There is a lot more, a whole lot more to the story than the simplicity you are trying to express it in.

Does that tie in with Orgeron going from doing College Gameday pieces with his wife about how awesome she is to him banging coeds a few months later or is it strictly football related?

I don't know how far down in the weeds a guy wants to go, but on the surface, LSU has two nattys since OU's last, and one of those was with two losses. LSU will get the benefit of the doubt more than OU, although that will probably fix itself with the move to the SEC. OU has had plenty of playoff chances but has never gotten over the hump since the end of the BCS era. I don't know the inner workings of either program so I can't speak to fanbase expectations etc, but LSU strikes me as one of the elite jobs in college football. OU is probably in the same tier, but I would place LSU above OU.

Still, is it a big enough step up to justify "starting over?" OU will match the money, so I agree with you, that's not going to be the determining factor. I wonder if Riley either waits for Saban to retire or for the right NFL job to open up.

Wth do I know.
