LSU isn't even taking that hard of a look at Napier according to a lot of people who say they are in the know.

I think Napier is going to be a star but its tough to go directly from the Sun Belt to a Top 10 job. He'd be great for Virginia Tech.

If Campbell did leave, he would be my dream replacement candidate but I can't see him talking the ISU job.

Does that tie in with Orgeron going from doing College Gameday pieces with his wife about how awesome she is to him banging coeds a few months later or is it strictly football related?

Not all of it is football related. In fact, most of it is not. He has spiraled out of control, nearly Larry Eustachy level out of control.

Not sure why I'm responding to this because Riley going to LSU doesn't seem even possible to me. I mean, he's already going to the SEC (eventually), he has plenty of fertile recruiting areas, has probably the hottest young quarterback among plenty of 4 or 5 stars returning, and is a top 10 team most every year.
What could attract him to LSU? And don't just say money. lol

LSU is not really a bad place to recruit to. If you can slow Saban down inside Louisiana you can almost field a championship level team without leaving the state. So recruiting wise LSU is solid to great. LSU has shown they can be a top tier SEC team, Oklahoma is not likely to be that for a while. Who in the top tier of the SEC has Oklahoma shown to be consistently better than.

LS's deal offering has been reported as $96 million over 8 years, an insane amount of money that reportedly OU admin won't match. Not that they can't match it, just that they are refusing to get into a bidding war.

I like college football, ALOT. But, $96 million over 8 years??...... seems absurd for a college football coach.... when will this ever stop?

I feel like I say this every time these coaching searches start up, but this feels like the craziest one in years...especially with how many big name programs are vacant right now

I don't think it would be anything to do with recruiting class rankings. I mean if he takes a job in the SEC that is open, our recruiting class would be one of the worst in that schools history. Even though it's great for us, If an LSU coach recruited our class the fans would be pissed.

I don't disagree. But I was replying to a previous post that he could leave "because of what he has coming back roster wise" which is implying the level of athletes on the team next year would not be as great as this year.

My point is that 5 years ago, he had nothing but a dream/hope. He sold that, brought in these under recruited kids, then developed them into the studs they are today (relative to ISU's program). Now we are sitting on a top 25 recruiting class. These kids I would have to assume are generally better athletes and I would hope on average have higher upside. If, and a big if, he can still develop those 4 star kids like he could those 2/3 star kids, then 4/5 years from now we should be absolutely loaded.

Recruiting to LSU should be easier and I would bet the commitment to facilities and money is greater. Sure, OU is a V8, but LSU is a V10. Just more horsepower.

Plus - you don't have to deal with any of the "SEC SEC" crap about OU/Big12 sucking if you don't win 10 games in year 1. Just sidestep that whole distraction.

If I am Franklin, why would I want the USC job (except better weather, and hotter chicks)? Football wise, PSU is far more attractive than USC.
Penn State is a great job, but USC is a job that you can win national championships at, better recruiting in S. California and no Ohio St. to contend with.

Its amazing the great jobs that are open right now, USC, Washington, LSU, Florida, all jobs that you can win at the highest level and most in great recruiting areas.

On the way home from work yesterday, they were listing the best jobs, and the guy, said LSU and its not even close. Every recruit in the state wants to play for them and they have won 2 national titles with below average head coaches. With their money, recruiting and facilities they should be fighting it out with Alabama for titles every year, the only thing holding them back is the head coach.

Louisiana and East Texas has tons of talent. TONS of talent.

The only reason I would say any of those come close is that USC has a lot of talent and doesn't have much to contend with, either in the conference or in recruiting. In a vacuum you can absolutely build a better team year in-year out at LSU. But you have a much better chance at getting more wacks at the CFP pinata at USC because you don't have to contend with Alabama, Georgia, and other power houses.

True is a harder road to get there, but because that it is you also get the benefit of the doubt if you lose a game along the way at LSU, that may or may not be true at USC. We also have to factor in that Saban, one would think, will be retiring in the next 3 to 5 years, and with him gone, Alabama will fall back to the rest of the conference.
