I get it, but realistically, that's too high. Getting into Iowa at #2 in FB area I think.

We have an overachieving, good BBall team that has a been a joy to watch, but I'm not going to kid myself that they are Top 10 caliber. Would love to be wrong (as I often am).

100% agree. We've earned the ranking for sure. It's not predictive, it's ranking teams based on their body of work so far. I still think that ISU is going to pile up the losses in the B12. They just don't score well enough to beat a ton of conference teams. We're going to run up against teams with elite length and guards that can create and score. The defense will definitely help us stay in games, though. But, I'd sign up for 9-9 in the conference right now if I could.

The SEC is easily the 2nd best conference in the country and they have been building towards that for a few years. I can't get over how down the ACC is this year.
No I'm just messing around. They legit have a lot of good teams

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but this glass half empty over analyzing as to why this team isn’t good or deserving of their ranking by some of you is almost comical at this point.

There is so much gray in basketball but fans that don’t understand the game tend to look at it in black and white terms or all or nothing terms. This team has proven time and time again that they are solid every time someone doubts them, this is a different brand of basketball it’s physical it’s ugly it’s defensive it’s a grind. Margin of victory is not an indicator of how good a team is no matter who the opponent….Every game is different and we have controlled 95% of our games comfortably from start to finish. There are so many variables that come in to play each week and each game.

I know some of you are chomping at the bit waiting for that first loss so you can be like I told you so they’re not any good! Same people going look at Memphis they are trending down yada yada. Look at Xavier they were missing players ( Truthfully they beat a ranked Ohio State team without one of those players and were undefeated up until the game with us. The reality is they were only missing one bench guy). How many times are we going to move the bar, I feel like after something is proven the goal posts are moved further back by some of you. That’s besides the point.

I think there’s a huge overreaction to the Jackson State game. You can look at teams every year, some that even make the final four that have lost to ****** teams or won close ugly games like that against lesser opponents.

If you wanna look at the negative in things you’re always going to find it same can be said for the positive. It feels like this harsh criticism by some is more insecure denial than it is being a realist. I recommend going outside and touching some grass. This is a solid gritty team And with Hilton behind them and the way they defend on the road I think 7-11 in conference is the low end of what they will achieve this year.

Beat Baylor and set the tone for the rest of conference play. Actually, don't beat Baylor and still set the tone for conference play.

I'd rather us come out of that one with a bear claw necklace around our necks though.

I would say defense is attitude conditioning and reaction. We are already high on that learning curve. Offense is more precision confidence and consistency . We are low on that learning curve. IMO there is more payoff to work on offense at this point, while also maintaining our defensive skill levels. Maybe you can’t have both, unless you have depth and recovery time for the starters.

They're #18 on Bart Torvik if you remove all data from last season and the preseason.

That feels pretty fair to me.

Regardless of margin of victory or who was missing players or who has bad losses after they played us or blah blah blah….. WE ARE 10-0 with several QUALITY WINS and last time I checked WINNING GAMES is the most important thing!! You are what your record says you are!! Stop trying to poke holes in this team!!!

Good thing RPI use has been de-emphasized. It seems pretty whack right now.
Iowa State at #34, Iowa at #121, Baylor #18 . . . SMH
It loves the B1G though, MSU, OSU and Wiscy all in top 5 with 2 losses

Saw a bit of the KU/Mizzou game this weekend. Kansas looks huge this year. Baylor's length has always given us fits even when we had our "world beater" hoiberg teams. WVU never been an easy out either.

Will be a lively conference season for sure.
One thing is for sure, any other conference would be easier for a coach to have success in Year 1.

We’ve played great defense so far. Thus far, most in the Big 12 are good to great defensive teams. Kind of unfortunate timing in that regard. There’s value in going against the grain

DeCock responded. Someone with a more statistical mind might be able to tell him why he is wrong.

He's going off Kenpom. Of course he doesn't understand it. The only reason they are ranked that low in Kenpom is last season is still getting factored in, which shouldn't apply at all in ISUs case because it is an entirely different team.
