I think we've seen instances of that today in the NBA where guys sign huge contracts as 18/19 year olds and they really don't have the ambition or desire to meet the expectations. Guys that feel they are just as good but don't get the hype or the money tend to be the better players.I think that the culture of some of these schools will be a disaster with guys more worried about their public persona and income than important aspects of team (not to mention the jealously and hard feelings of those who are busting their butts without compensation having to put up with that).

NIL sucks.
Penn as in school or Penn gaming?Rumors swirling that there was an NIL deal with Penn as well. That would give this some additional context and could potentially make things complicated.
FYI - Deion works for Barstool who is owned by Penn
Don't mind me over here, trying to figure out why I should view a kid parlaying his skills and abilities into a multi-million dollar payday as a bad thing.
It's a violent sport and nothing is certain. Get your money.
UofI is going to hire Ashton Kutcher for recruitingHaving Deion around adds a LOT of media exposure and general interest.
Imagine if Tebow became the head coach at say Troy or something. Whatever NIL you do, its not just the kid but also the exposure of the connection to the other famous name.

100% NCAA's fault. They fought this for so long and could have compromised and made it more regulatable. Let it go all the way to the Supreme Court and they have no leg to stand on now.
I do hope they clamp down on the transfer-piece though making it tougher to bounce around to the highest payer like the Texas Quinn Ewars transfer.
So he works for barstool and then gets barstool to sponsor his players. Seems like that should be against the rulesRumors swirling that there was an NIL deal with Penn as well. That would give this some additional context and could potentially make things complicated.

The market will correct itself, as it did in the NBA with people gambling on high school prospects. Far from sure investments.Like he already had a million dollar so he could play for an FCS school and not worry that their boosters can't give him the money a school like FSU's boosters can?
If something like that is true I can't imagine it is sustainable or will be indicative of the future. With the possible exception of LeBron James I can't think of a high school athlete that would be marketable enough to merit a million dollar endorsement deal if his next stop wasn't a marquee team at the highest level of his college sport or straight to the pros.
I mean I haven't seen footage of this kid playing high school sports constantly like the entire sports world had been seeing James as a high school kid in Akron.
Aren't all major NIL deals basically publicity stunts?I saw $3mil bounced around. It's a publicity stunt but one that will no doubt work out for Barstool when it gets talked about ad nauseam for the next few weeks.
It's certainly going to be a fiasco until everyone figures out how to operate with it.NIL sucks.
