Kolar and Rose both accept Senior Bowl invites.

Soehner is another one that I thought would be a sure thing to get drafted. He's on IR with the Saints. Hope he gets a shot some day.
I liked Soehner coming out, but you have to remember he is a blocking specialist. Would be tough for him to get drafted though I thought he had a shot. He was also hurt by not having a combine. (he actually received an honorary invite had they had one)

On the flip side, Kene was a huge surprise being a 4th round pick. Goes to show scouts are paying closer attention to us now.

Position on the draft or getting drafted is overrated. It’s all about where you land and it being a good fit. Look at Lazard. Hell, even freaking Landon Akers.

Can’t see how Breece and Kolar aren’t drafted. Will, Enyi and Rose seem very likely too. Players like Hutch and Allen among others have chances at the late round frame. Hard to not see at least 4-5 drafted. Which for us is really good.

I think basing it off “we never have had guys get drafted historically” is a lazy take. These players have legit talent compared to past players.
Agree. My post was in response to the take that we should have more people drafted than normal. Sorry if came off wrong. I think 4-5 seems about right.

Yeah I wasn’t directing that at you, either. That was towards the guy you were responding to before that

Agreed. I'm just saying that's not our measure of success. Nobody is going to lose sleep over draft picks compared to how these players impacted the team and program.

See Lazard. He's doing fine for himself, and came here for the program and culture (when it was in the dumps). He helped to build this program to where it is today and maybe sacrificed draft stock for it. Good for the program, good for him too as he kept pounding and found a spot in the league.

Also most players will end up being great college players, maybe not suited for the pro game. We can thrive on those types and build them up for their future doing other things outside the NFL.

While I agree that you can win without NFL players, where it really helps is recruiting. TOE makes a living recruiting off of NFL draft picks. There's a reason why players like Nwankpa are considering them even though they run a boring system with racist coaches. They put guys in the league. And so far, we pretty much don't. Hopefully, that starts to change this year...although ISU fans on here consistently overrate how draftable our players are and are consistently disappointed.

One thing to consider, with the covid year, this will likely be the most competitive draft ever. There are going to be guys drafted in the 7th round that would have went 5th or even 4th in other years. My opinion is that Hall, McDonald and Kolar are locks. I think that Rose and Enyi can sneak in late. Everyone else is UFA or camp invites. Just my opinion.

ESPN has Scout Inc. draft rankings for the top 300 or so. Here are the Cyclones on it as of right now and their overall ranking. I added the round that the ranking equates to.

Breece Hall - #36 (2nd)
Will McDonald - #89 (3rd)
Charlie Kolar - #101 (3rd/4th)
Mike Rose - #106 (3rd/4th)
Enyi Uwazurike - #193 (6th)
Brock Purdy - #291 (UDFA)
Tarique Milton - #296 (UDFA)
O'Rien Vance - #297 (UDFA)

The only guy on this list who I think might come back is McDonald, and if he is getting a 3rd round grade then I could see it go either way with him returning or going. He has immense pass rushing talent but if he used another year to work on some other skills, he could play into the first round.

No Xavier Hutchinson or any of the senior DBs on the list.

The grade on Will seems a round low. And Milton makes the list but not X? Not sure what they're watching.

Kolar definitely helped his stock today.

For sure. Lack of top end speed and not being an elite blocker will keep him from being a first rounder. But he has great size and some very, very polished route running.

Feels like a stable round 3 guy. Maybe could get into round 2.

Will really be interesting to see who gets combine invites. That and the senior bowl are pretty good indicators of getting drafted. Obviously not foolproof see Lazard.

Senior Bowl.....will you accept this Rose?

Absolutely.

Mike is Amazing. He is here for all the right reasons. He is starting to think he is falling in Love with you.

Mike will get intimate......with the play calls for this game.

Chris Harrison is naughty.
