When we played fast and pushed the tempo we jumped out to a lead, and we were driving and kicking. Then we went back to the same ****** offensive sets and settling for dumb shots. That's all coaching.

TJ then threw the guys under the bus on his post game interview with Walter's and Heft saying they "need to play more urgent and show effort and he's only going to play the guys who show effort and urgency".

Well TJ I don't see you showing any urgency standing on the sidelines, armed crossed, biting on your finger while the refs make horrible calls right in front of you. You want the team to show effort then you show effort fighting for your team with the refs.

I am still struggling to reconcile our start with what we're seeing now. We didn't just look average, we looked pretty darn good. And now we haven't just reverted to average, we mostly look pretty darn bad.

I worried we were on a magic carpet ride in the preseason and we'd meet reality in the Big 12. But those first few league games proved we belonged. I suppose it could be as simple as having enough games under our belt to be adequately scouted, but I have to think something else is going on. We just look broken.

It's sad. I hope we can pull out of this freefall.

This is where I’m at. I don’t think the non con was fools gold, and the big 12 isn’t some juggernaut that is uncomparable to everyone else.

They just haven’t kept improving while everyone else continues to get better. Hunter and Brock have improved since Dec, has anyone else? I could list a lot of places where they’re worse.

I don’t disagree with anything you said. After the loss at WVU it seemed clear we may have lost our legs. First half today looked fine. Then back to so many shots being short. I think we are just gassed.
I think a team that’s gassed probably doesn’t have games where two different guys go from significant to zero minutes in a game like Jackson and Enaruna have. If they are gassed the substitution patterns don’t seem to agree.

That isn't changing for next year. Unless you think one of those freshman is going to be a scorer, it's going to be similar,

It will be interesting to see if TJ is better at recruiting as an assistant than as a head coach.

To get some transfers we are going to need some guys to move on though.

I think the Jackson move is to get him gone. So that will be 1. He'll get rid of George.

This reads like you're suggesting TJ is willing to torpedo the season by not playing players so they'll leave.

That's exactly what I'm saying. Although I don't think not playing Tre is losing us games. But he's pulling a Tim Floyd and trying to run players off.

So you REALLY don't want TJ as the coach.

Noted.

Who did you suggest to Jamie to lead the program?

Don't get my post wrong, I really like Rob's effort and by all accounts he seems to be a good kid. But I'll be pretty concerned if Rob Jones is playing more than a couple spot minutes next year... I basically don't wanna hear about lack of talent in the post when Iowa State accepts a commitment from a non-difference-maker from a very low major program almost immediately into transfer season.

Man I would have loved to see Dennis Gates get an interview. Or literally anyone even being interviewed except just one close friend of the AD.

Him wanting to run Tre off doesn't mean that he shouldn't be the coach. I just think we need to realize that is what he is doing. And I think it is fair to wonder if Tre is really the person that needs to be run off most.

I keep saying it, but TJ's post game comments consistently sound like he's missing the point. I'm getting worried he's gonna keep going all in on defense-above-anything-else (or effort, w/e) when it's clear it's an offensive skill/scheme issue more than anything.

It's just the way it was handled by the AD and frankly the way it was handled on here for 6 years. It is always going to rub me the wrong way. That's not fair, but it just is.

As I've said before, I've had to eat my words more than not, so I'm sure TJ will ultimately be successful here.

I will be extremely happy to eat crow if that ends up being the case in a few years.

Oh I think there will be guys moving on. Guessing they will choose to after frustration of how this season ended and decreased playing time.
The players have something to do with the way the season is going. To think that players take no responsibility and leave because the blame is only on the coaching staff is silly.
