"I have no clue what Sacramento is doing."

-Dan Patrick

Sacramento is in such a tough spot. The only way they can change their team is through slightly uneven trades so I don’t blame them. Also, they are the team that came out of the trade with an all-star. It’s not as bad of a deal as the media is making out. TH and Fox are redundant, Fox is the more productive player right now. That’s how it goes, I’m not going to kill them for at least trying something new when what they are doing obviously wasn’t working.

Personally I don’t think Gentry is a good fit there for a rebuild. They need to find an up and comer with new ideas. The female coach from SA would have been a big swing but they didn’t go that direction.

Mitchell also looks like the real deal for Sacramento, which gives them a crowded backcourt. Getting out of the Hield contract and receiving an All-Star caliber center in the process probably isn't the worst thing to happen. Reaction from other teams makes it sound like they could have gotten more though.

I wonder if Doug Christie will get a look for the HC position. I believe this is his first year as a HC for their G-League affiliate. I'm glad he isn't in the broadcast booth anymore as I thought he was tough to listen too. I really like their current team with Mark Jones and Kayte Christensen-Hunter. Mark Jones has to be one of the best in the business for a local play-by-play personalities.

Whoever hires Hammon is going to be very happy they did.

That's not a political statement, either -- purely in terms of basketball results.

Yeah it is, Sabonis is worthless in today's NBA.

100% agree. Kings would have been (still could be someday I guess?) a perfect spot imo.
I have to think she'd leave the WNBA, and they should let her and welcome it frankly. Not sure if she'll be good or not as even Pop hasn't done much of late but she's from my hometown so I hope she gets a shot and kills it.

This move simplifies things for the Kings going forward. They hit the ground running while the Pacers are still a move or two away. You can argue SAC won the deal today but the Pacers are the winners for the future. Right now, Indiana's roster is kind of a mess, with the picks and money they have coming in the offseason, they'll have some big turnover coming.

Yeah, she's the head coach of their Las Vegas franchise.

But she deserves a shot at an NBA job.
She's getting paid a million too I think. I feel like it's just a matter of time until she is an NBA coach. I wonder if once pop retires.

This just reminds me I wish I could have seen what peak Arvydas Sabonis could have done in the NBA. He was really good even when he was over the hill and in international play.

I’m sure he would have been an all time great but I think we’re seeing an even better version now in reigning mvp.

Jokić is 6'11" and 285 with a 7'3" wingspan.

Sabonis was 7'3" and 292 with a 7'6" wingspan.

Both are big (really gigantic) men with frightening athleticism.

Imagining Jokić but 4" taller and 3" wider is simply terrifying.

he’s the smartest and most creative player I’ve ever seen. Young Sabonis looks more athletic in the Soviet footage but I’m not sure it matters since Jokic does most of his damage flat footed anyway.

Somebody commented that his son isn’t the type of player the league needs anymore and probably true, if there were 20 players like Jokic the league would be based on signing them, there just aren’t any.

Some of Sabonis' passing highlights are just crazy...

Athletic has a decent article analyzing the Kings' decision. I still think it was a really stupid trade, but he lays out the idea that the Kings are shortening their window of opportunity with this trade with the hope of reaching it sooner. I can get on board with that idea, especially if you believe Fox was dangled first and no one wanted him. But it's not like Sabonis is going to be a Draymond Green or anything. He's poor defensively on a team that already can't defend. He will be able to facilitate the offense, but so did the budding all-star they just traded.

Tyrese just became the 5th player in Pacers history with a 20pt, 15ast game.
(22pts, 16ast, 5reb)

It's just crazy to think about his recruitment and getting to this point.
