What Jere would have said if he 25 wins wasn't a question. The next year was underachieving even with 24 wins because of totally unacceptable loss to Purdue in the tourney. One more win wasn't going to make jere go......"gee, Steve is okay". So we can take jere off the table.

As for your post......it is proving what myself and many have been saying for years.........you just can't give Steve credit without conditions. The guy won 23 games and made the sweet sixteen and you use retroactive numbers to what.......prove it smoke and mirrors?

I have said the Fred vs Steve thing isn't me because I like Fred. But with this post I think we can close the book on any of you just saying he did a good job during his good years.........period. You guys just can't do it.

I don't get it and it's becoming arguing just to argue. I fear in the future someone comes back with new analytics some geek creates to really find out TJ's first year actually sucked. Even though he is past 20 wins and going to the tourney.

A winning season is a winning season. A sweet 16 is a sweet 16. However for some reason at ISU that's not the case. Sad...but true.

How did such a brilliant coach only get 2 wins in his sixth year at Iowa State?

I think you are confused about which years are which. The 2017 team was the Purdue year, when Monte and Naz were Senriors. I never said a word about that teams, they pretty much maxed out to what I thought their potential was that year.

The year in question is 2016, Niangs Senior year and Prohms first.

TJ has done a tremendous job this year getting back to a tournament with limited offensive talent but in a game like the last one where nothing is working, why don't you throw in Jackson and Enaruna? Just seems ridiculously stubborn to the point of cutting off your nose to spite your face type of thing. Also, staff may need to do some evaluation in the offseason on the offense in terms of what they are running.

Give this offense even a poor man's Niang type running from the top or even the wing and there wouldn't be much of a call for evaluation.

Even just a consistent threat from 3 or a drive to the hoop.

Can someone tell me what offense we run? It sort of resembles our middle school weave except there’s no high post in that. Our middle school weave is designed to pass the ball a lot cause the dribbling sucks, which may also be why it resembles the Cyclones. Unfortunately the middle school doesn’t have the stay out of Brockington’s way and let him do something option.

@mynameisjonas and @CYEATHAWK certainly have voiced their approval of Prohm’s job as Coach. Prohm is one of the worst, if not the worst, coaches in Iowa State History. IMO.
Go ahead and post an example of my approval of Prohm. I was angry when Pollard extended him. I know you like to keep things really simple so that it’s easy for you, but I’m pretty sure you’re the only person that thinks there is a TJ vs Prohm debate.

What did Jackson and Enaruna do that they are so deep in TJ's dog house? I thought the same thing. I could not watch the start of the game. Turned it on at 30-30 with ~12 minutes to play. ISU only scored 6 points after that. TJ did nothing different. What does he have to lose putting those two in? At least Enaruna can get to the rim, and Jackson can pop in a 3. Nothing else was working.

TJ is hands down a better Coach. There really is no debate. Would have liked to see what TJ could have done with the group Prohm inherited. TJ has won 20 games and counting with this group. TJ can Coach. Prohm can not Coach.

Not sure if those two really believe Prohm was a good coach. I cannot speak for them.

Personally, I think he was a poor coach who was successful at certain times. I do not think those things are mutually exclusive. That is, you can be a poor coach, but have some success during your tenure. I don’t think we need to manufacture reasons why Prohm was a poor coach. His entire body of work speaks for itself. If you disagree, I get it. This is only my opinion.

I agree that something to interject may have helped the other night.

But I'm not sold that Enaruna could just get to the rim vs. that length or that Jackson could find a shot in the same way.

The offseason will tell us more I'd guess.

Well said.

Iowa State and Steve Prohm are happy. I am happy with the contract. And feel it was a fair contract. I know that within a couple of years we are looking at Campbell's contract. With Iowa State's Athletic Department Revenue we must be wise in how we spend money.

Way up there
Can we just get a mega thread discussing former coaches? There is more about the 3 guys the proceeded him than the guy in the title since it was bumped.
