Who's headed to the United Center?

In a city that is very walkable, the UC isn't in the ultimate walkable location.

It's unfortunately just a little too far from the closest green or blue line. If it was on the blue line it'd be perfect, a few stops from OHare, one stop form Wicker Park/Bucktown, 2 stops from downtown, etc...

in the 90s and even early 2000s the area was a lot more sketchy. I moved there in 02 and moved away in '15. It was waaaaaaaaay less scary by the time I left if you were out on a non-game night.

If we get lucky and have good weather...after a game if a cab/uber isn't easy I'd suggest just walking up Damen 20-25 minutes to Milwaukee intersection. Don't even need to recommend where to eat and drink, it just looks like a party all the time.

What are you talking about? The UC is a half mile from a Blue Line stop....

Would tickets be more expensive or less expensive for the Sunday game? A chance to watch this team go to the Final 4 would be pretty priceless.
Depends on if KU wins. Can’t imagine Providence would have tons of interest.

Providence enrollment is 4,735. Very small fan base based in RI and a flight alone back and forth is $500-$600 per person for this upcoming weekend.

Already bought the tickets and we leaving Friday. Should be fun to do a little sight seeing before the game. Any idea on good parking or is it best to buy parking?

For some people that's a lot of walking in a strange city, for others its nothing or even enjoyable.

Having lived in Chicago for 13 years near that area and being in great shape I'd walk it no problem even in bad weather. For other people it's not their thing either because they don't walk half a mile, or aren't comfortable walking in an urban city they know nothing about. Taking a bus or cab/uber that short of a distance is a pain in the ass no matter how urban/rural somebody is. Especially a short bus is annoying, I don't think I ever took a bus less than a mile in the heart of the city.

It's not right on a stop the way Wrigley and Sox ballparks are. It's comparable distance Soldier Field from but soldier field is in a beautiful urban space on the lake.

What Cheer, IA
Longtime former Chicagoan. Here are my suggestions. All west loop/close to UC.

Pre-game:

Drinks:
Lone Wolf
Lou's Backyard
Aviary

Brewery:
Haymarket Brewery

Dinner:
The Publican
Girl and the Goat
Little Goat
Bar Siena
Parlor West Loop
Green Street Meats
Beatrix
Kuma's Corner
Au Cheval
Duck Duck Goat
Avec
Momotaro

Bunch of ISU fans went to Smoke Daddy's the last time Iowa state made the sweet 16.

I miss Chicago food and drink. I moved away before Covid. I'm sure I missed some good ones.

I can’t go Friday with work schedule but if we win, I might not be able to turn down going on Sunday. Especially if Providence knocks off KU and tickets are reasonable

Slide down to Greensborough and support the women for a fraction of the price?

That's what I'm doing. I'm "all in" for the women's team this year. And I'm from Chicago and would love to go back, but I'm going to Greensboro.

that's why I'm thinking if I should get all sessions tickets
It doesn't appear that the NCAA/Ticketmaster has the all-session option that Stub Hub does but that seems to be the way to go. Buy the full session knowing you've got them, move down to better seats after the KU game and you will be set for Sunday

I lived by the bucktown library near the main six corners. It’s a cool mix right now because it has some sports bars but also still some of the more counter culture and music clubs. I miss that neighborhood more than Chicago at large.
Such a cool neighborhood.

Back in the old days you had to find a parking spot on the street and "hire" a neighborhood kid to watch your car. Wheels at least would be gone if you didn't.
Used to ride Douglas Park L west @ 11:00 PM. Never got mugged back then but would now.

This is no joke. Back in the old Chicago Stadium days, there were all sorts of people milling around. If they saw you getting out of your car, they would say something like "$10 to make sure nothing happens to your car." If you didn't pay them, "something would happen to your car!"

Plus if you are coming from out west on the Blue line that's a pretty long ride to get to the UC stop...

the last time we were there I bought all session tickets. I don’t recall who played opposite of us but after Virginia beat us, I couldn’t give the Sunday session tickets away.
It was Virginia vs Syracuse

The difference is right now you will pay almost the same for both days as you do for Friday. We are going to get both and if we don’t need them we can try and sell them. We aren’t out much if they don’t sell.

…… and if Kansas loses before our win, there will be a line of vehicles heading to Hilton east Saturday And Sunday.
