Picked up nose bleeds, but at least on side of court and not end zone. Gonna stay out by OHare (free parking), take hotel shuttle to Ohare, L to downtown, blue line to med Ctr stop. Lake St. is where transfer, I think.

Then, Saturday, Hackneys in Glenview for lunch

OOPS Blue line is the OHare line. No transfer Go downtown, then back out.
:p

If you shuttle to ORD, just get on the blue line there and stay on it all the way to Med district. The red line is a long ways from ORD.

Longtime former Chicagoan. Here are my suggestions. All west loop/close to UC.

Pre-game:

Drinks:
Lone Wolf
Lou's Backyard
Aviary

Brewery:
Haymarket Brewery

Dinner:
The Publican
Girl and the Goat
Little Goat
Bar Siena
Parlor West Loop
Green Street Meats
Beatrix
Kuma's Corner
Au Cheval
Duck Duck Goat
Avec
Momotaro

Bunch of ISU fans went to Smoke Daddy's the last time Iowa state made the sweet 16.

I miss Chicago food and drink. I moved away before Covid. I'm sure I missed some good ones.

Awesome list here and totally agree. Parlor West Loop is awesome if the weather is nice- hopefully we get lucky on Friday. Hard to go wrong in West Loop.

I moved to River North in 2019 and love living here, super excited for Friday and really hope Iowa State fans show up in big numbers.

I've been trying to find more posts on the forums about tickets- is anyone waiting to see what prices do before buying? Or is $200-$250 for nosebleeds with the intent of moving down once all the KU fans take off probably the best bet? I heard ticket prices are a little inflated right now and should go down but not sure if that's smart or not. Anyone have experience with how this typically works?

Thinking about making the trip to the game Friday.

What are some suggestions regarding tickets? When to buy? What website? What has worked in past etc.?

Just looking for two relatively cheap ones, don't care if nose bleeds. Not trying to spend a ton.

Depends on your definition of cheap. The cheapest ticket is going to run you around $200 unless you find someone who is motivated to sell.

the last time we were there I bought all session tickets. I don’t recall who played opposite of us but after Virginia beat us, I couldn’t give the Sunday session tickets away.
I had the same issue.

The other game was Syracuse vs. Gonzaga - which the Orange came from behind to win.

The Virginia vs. Syracuse Elite 8 game was elite in talent and coaching but not as a local draw.

So between this post and others I've read, if Iowa State wins and KU loses, the United Center should look like KC did when it was Iowa State against West Virginia or Baylor in the Big 12 title game. And a solid line of traffic heading east on Saturday on I80.

Not super familiar with Chicago... I had some Hyatt points and booked they Hyatt House on west loop... Is this good location? Plenty to do for bars / restaurants? Have a friend telling me to cancel and book downtown.

You are only 1 block north of Madison. There’s quite a few bars/restaurants in that area, both to the south on Madison and North on Randolph.

PS: there’s a lot of free street parking in that general area too. Not sure what the hotel charges for parking, but if its a lot, you can park for free on a lot of side streets there.

Is it true you have to provide proof of vaccination or a negative Covid test to enter the United Center?

Sounds like it. Sounds like no booster required. I’ve got a picture of my vax card on my phone, that’s all NYC required.
