The storm didn’t wake me up at 11, it was our frugal neighbors turning on their outdoor light by their side door of the garage, which happens to be near our bedroom. I decide to see what the heck they were doing. It is pouring rain out she has a raincoat on, she pulls a downspout end off and starts collecting water out of the gutter and pours it into an empty 5 gallon kitty litter container. WTF! It’s no wonder I have a drinking problem with the strange neighbors on each side of me.

to be fair collecting rain water is actually a pretty good idea.

now.. there are way better ways to do it. doesnt seem very efficient haha.

If sitting outside in a raincoat collecting rainwater in a household dishpan, while it’s lightning out, and filling a 5 gallon bucket up a quart at a time isn’t strange I don’t know what is. I don’t know why they just don’t get a rain barrel as the tend to do this every time it rains.

Is there a painter/artist living in that house?

They just want a little rainwater but not an entire barrel full, just enough to boil some pasta.

Do the neighbors have a steel roof? Otherwise, the rainwater they are collecting is likely full of shingle material.

do they wash the kitty litter pan first? That seems to be the most disgusting part of it.

The building appears to be still standing. Bar's been closed for 30 years.

My parents met in the Rusty Rail, so I quite literally owe my existence to it.
Were they in a good mood when they told you?
