I don't understand a conferences desire to go to more than 16 teams. More than 16 teams becomes an alliance, not a conference.
However, by adding USC and UCLA, they almost have to grow to add teams for them to play on the west coast.
My biggest concern with the BIG is they would go after Washington, Oregon, Colorado and Kansas to get to 20.
I don't think they add kanas and colorado... I think if they add 4 it's Cal/Stan, Ore/Wash.
But, I think their ideal scenario is to add some acc schools.
So, I don't know what it will take to break the acc apart. But say a simple majority (8 of 14, doubt this would work) could end the GOR deal some how... even if there were huge fees, if the gap is $70M per year, you could pay $40M of that to the old acc schools left behind and still come out +$30M / yr.
If someone figures out how to break apart the acc with life rafts for 8-11 or so schools....
B10: Wash, Oregon, Stan, Cal, UNC, UVA, ND, Duke = 24
SEC: FSU, Clem, GT, VT, NCSU, Miami, OSU, Pitt = 24
You can add some B12 or other acc schools for pitt, duke if you want. But the key is how many votes does it take to end the ACC? If b10, sec want to free up the brands from that league, they could provide options for enough of them and then end that conference.
4x6 groups playing in regional pods... I think this is what you target if your are the top two leagues.
