Seems like the Big 12 is in a good position, doesn't it? It would be nice thinking of some new type of branding for the Big 12.

But we have our friends (sic) at espn and fox. I won't feel good until we are in as a solid P3. Next couple of weeks, or even sooner, should be big. I meant to be a little funny. It is taxing though. Gonna be some losers in more ways than one.

Drop the word “big” and use the word “Power” and then the number of teams. So if we end up with 18. We would be the Power 18.

Great idea! I could get used to Pwr 16, Pwr 18 Conference, etc. A new name may be needed if desired by the media partners or the added members.

If the new members ("if") or the media partners don't really care, and it is the Big 12 that is doing the expanding, I still would probably prefer keeping the name "Big 12".

Right now, naming of a conference is the least of our concerns. I hope the realignment gods are good to us soon.

Not sure what USC would do if their new league told them they aren't allowed to schedule Notre Dame. I doubt that was part of the deal.

I think most ND fans would be fine if they could play USC and Navy annually. The other rivals are secondary. Maybe Stanford is in that top tier as well.
B1G ain't going to tell them who they can/can't schedule OOC.

Will there even be OCC games any more? All the money will stay in the conference.

My thoughts exactly. with 20 teams in a conference they may need to get everyone to 11-12 conference games, but that would really suck for teams middle of the pack that used those 3 non conference games (SEC uses 4) to pad their record.
even if you played 12 conference games, you would not be playing 7 teams. unreal!

I’m not sure I like Power 18 but it’s better than the Big 12 which definitely needs rebranded. Nationally the name Big 12, brings up thought of power teams leaving and the view that the remaining teams are not valuable. We need a strong name. But Power 18 sounds like we are chasing the Power 2 conferences. We need a name that is independently strong and invokes thoughts of unity and strength. Like the name of elite Roman military unit or something along those lines.

If we add the corner schools plus Washington and Oregon I like the idea of staying with the name Big 12 to reference the 12 states included in the conference.

Conference name is more of an "all news is good news" thing to me; evidence for this is how strong the Big East basketball conference has been when it easily could have become a mid-major, but it maintained high level recruiting in part because it had a premier brand name. Even when the Big East name had been dragged through the mud.

The Big Praetorian Conference. Big P for short.

Former senior VP for Fox Sports thinks the 22-school full merger between the conferences makes the most sense.

With 22 schools, you could protect 3 annual games and rotate through the remaining 18 by playing 6 per year. Play everyone once per 3 years, host once per 6 years.

Also I would hope if it happened that they would go big for a 21-game round robin in hoops.
