Somewhere between yoga and martial arts is Tai Chi. My mom tried it and liked it, but she was just watching videos and it didn't stick. Does some muscle toning and helps with core / balance a lot.

They also have those water classes where they use pool noodles and such for weight resistance. Maybe doing that with a little swimming would be a good low-impact way to build some muscle, esp if you like swimming anyway.

Water walking/movement imo is really underrated for all levels of fitness/age etc.

I found Tai Chi to be better for me mentally than physically. Standing meditation. Running is the same for me, but quite a bit harder

Definitely get a fitting. There is research indicating your feet get larger in length and width with pregnancy. I went from 8 to 8.5 to 9.

Oh and spinny rides become a ***** too.

My feet haven't actually changed in size that I can tell! But spinny rides have always been a no go. My mom did say she used to love roller coasters but not after me (1st child). That's such a weird side effect

Venting......

Doing Liift4 again. 4 weeks in and I'm gaining weight.

Son of a *****. I'm tired of doing cardio heavy workouts but they do make me drop lbs

The last time I did Liift4 I too gained weight. Weird. I haven't lifted in some time, my back was screwed up and just starting to feel normal again, but plan to go back to Liift4. This time I am just going to do the lifts and removing the intervals/cardio. Just gonna walk for that. I don't know maybe that will help.

I was 226 lbs at the start of 2020. I weighed in at 182.5 this morning. I have had some ups and downs in both my personal life and weight loss journey, but one thing I never did was give up. The process is long and difficult. But I have never been healthier. I have 7.5 more pounds to go to hit my goal of 175.

Bump.

Has anyone had any experience with sprint workouts?

Literally just sets of sprints of 40 yards or something.

No but I would make sure your running form is solid through all those, especially when your tired. Or you might have feet/ankle/back issues over time as your pushing yourself through those last sets.

Yeah it's different...I've been able to run 30ish minutes with no real issues except a chronic calf strain (getting better) but I'm thinking less impact frequency i.e. steps might be better.

Had a PT once point out that walking 6 miles can actually be worse than running 2-3 miles in that way which makes sense if you think about usage/repeated movement.

I have to ask how tall you are? I mean I'm 6'2" have dropped 10 lbs the last year to get to 225. I've gone from a 38" to 36" waist size. My wife is 5'6 and she has dropped 45 lbs in the last year, but she is on a diet plan to. I'm not, I just exercise regulary and drink around 24 oz of water first thing in the morning.

I've actually been buying some medium shirts now, depending on the brand and fit, used to be a 100% XL guy. Also went through the closet and pulled out some massive size 38 shorts, currently wearing a 32/33.

We were looking at some past 4th of July pictures of the four of us, those past pictures were kind of shocking, 2019 3true was a tank.

Look up Zone 2 cardio. Sprints are good but for long term health and fitness Zone 2 has studies backing it's benefits. Definitely good to incorporate some HIIT/sprints if you can but from what I've seen zone 2 is extremely beneficial.

That sounds like complete BS to me. The movement isn't the same and impact is WAY different. Steps are not steps of equal impact. I'm a big running booster if people don't overdue the mileage. Doesn't take long if you are only looking for general fitness benefits. Three 4 miles runs at 50-75% and maybe a 5 on weekends is pretty much perfect IMHO. Good aerobic bennies and fairly low impact. If I was setting up something for a average person I'd go 4 runs a week, 3 runs a week, 4 runs a week, 3 runs week. If my knees and right metatarsals allowed it that is what I'd still be doing at maybe a mile less per run at my age.

It's something I've actually experienced so in my case it's legit.

After walking around all day or going for a longer walk I'll feel more discomfort than a 25-30 minute run.

I have to keep my hips/quads/core balanced with strength and alignment to make any of it work.

Please talk to your doctor about Wegovy. A new, FDA approved drug from about 15 months ago. They cannot make enough of it. It basically suppresses your appetite because you always have a full feeling. You can consume less calories and metabolize carbohydrates like your 16 years old and u do not get hungry. It is essentially semaglutide which is the diabetes drug. It is under the trade name of Wegovy.

Adults with diabetes are on a regimen of 3 to 4 times the amount people use this for to lose weight. They discovered adult diabetic patients were losing 10% of their body weight over 6 to 12 months of use. People that need to lose more weight obviously can lose more than 10 to 15% of their body weight on this drug.

It would s expensive - $250-$400 per month

It is not speed or anything like that to suppress your appetite. Amazing drug.

You can do too much cardio and eat your own muscle.

Edit: Also, people tend to overwork and not rest enough and that includes more than just sleep.

I've read an article that said running actually makes your knees hurt less.

I think it's situation or person dependent but iirc basically if the knee is hurting, something else is weak/injured or out of alignment.

Along with my hips I need to keep my ankle flexion and strength and my quads strong as well.
