Seems like quite the pillow fight from what I've seen.

You think Arizona adds value?
I think Arizona adds value because of what their leaving does to the PAC 12. If the PAC 12 loses quality teams, it will be devalued as a league compared to the Big 12. I think it is important for the Big 12 to improve its relative strength compared to other conferences.

If we’re going to try to expand beyond the 12 members going forward, why not go bigger? Geography seems to be less and less of an issue. The B12 should try to poach Oregon and Washington in the west and Florida State and Clemson in the east. Go big or go home.

If FSU and Clemson got out of their GOR, they’d be in the SEC in about an hour.

Getting to 16-20 with QUALITY adds does mean something.

At only ten teams we’ve been expected to have as many bowl teams and ncaa teams as the 14-15 team leagues.

When our ten basketball teams outperform the #2 conference ACC’s 15 teams we get absolutely no credit for how amazing that is.

Staying at ten would’ve completely destroyed our perception. With other leagues going to 16-20, 12 is gonna be same thing.

I’m really not sure it matters unless b12 teams win the football playoff very regularly.

Our basketball teams have absolutely dominated the past five years. Especially when you see it’s 10 teams vs the next best conferences having 15 and 14 teams.

The media still covers ACC and Big Ten as if they are #1 rather than the very clear second and third best leagues they are. Even with the recent national titles and championship game appearances, it’s like they begrudgingly acknowledge the big 12 for one day then go right back to creating a total myth, especially re big ten basketball.

I know that’s Debbie Downer but probably true.

I know alot are talking about WASU and Oreg st being left behind but I'm not so sure..

Everyone keeps thinking we are after the 4 corner schools...and we might be...but another strategy to collapsing the PAC is taking WASU... That could force Washington to make the jump..

Now might be asking why take both Wash schools...Washington is Seattle and huge TV market..

WASU TV ratings are actually pretty good. WASU TV ratings are Top 30 generally. Better than CU, Arizona and ASU.

I'd love to add Arizona..bc their bball would make Big 12 #1 bball conf without question.

From viewership, probably much nothing.
Very true. Cal and Stanford are both afterthoughts in the Bay Area market. While they have decent (Stanford) to meh (Cal) followings, they're not going to bring much to the table for any new P5 arrangement. Bay Area is a pro sports market, plain and simple. The 49ers (and formerly Raiders) rule the airwaves and capture the attention. During other times of the year, it's the Giants, the A's, the Warriors (and the Kings to a lesser extent), the Sharks, and the Quakes that are pullling in the most eyeballs. I remember when I first moved out there, how little attention was paid to college athletics, outside of a MAJOR accomplishment. But moving from Iowa to the (now) 5th largest CSA in the nation (nearly 10 million people), I had no previous experience with pro sports being the "priority." It was definitely different.

Stanford has had more recent successes in football and probably would have more pull to get in someplace decent. Cal has been a consistently mediocre presence in football (with very rare instances of great success). While they do well in the Olympic sports, that's not enough to justify bringing them along anywhere, IMO. It's the flagship school of the entire UC system, the original University of California, a land grand university, and a founding member of the AAU, but you'd never know it by looking at the state of their major athletic programs. Cal DOES have a lot to offer, but they just cannot get and KEEP their **** together long enough to be impactful, because of huge money issues, questionable leadership, what-have-you. Bet they thought they always had a secured spot in the Pac-whatever. Bet they wish they'd done more now.

Maybe…but if that were true, why aren’t they already there? We should give it a shot. Or even try to snag Miami and NC or Duke. We have 3 schools out east already, might as well increase our presence there.

We're witnessing the nation go through the stages of grief on realizing they're wrong on the Big 12/Pac12.

Pac 12 is way above Big 12 and will survive. The Alliance proves it.
Losing USC isn't a big deal, the Pac 12 can just poach top of Big 12
Pac12 still has better brands than Big12, and will get the better deal.
College football is better with the Pac, we need to save it, if you care about CFB, Big 12 schools should move
Nothing matters anymore outside P2, might as well stay at 10 with the Pac
Maybe the Big 12-Pac10 can fully merge into Pac22

Hopefully we can close the deal and get a few to jump on the way to a Big 18 and the P3

Lock up 6 from the Pac12 with Fox/CBS/streaming combination. Locks up viewership of half of US. Big 10/Fox has 2 California schools that can only play x number of times at home (night games). Nueters ESPN basically west of Mississippi river with the exception of Boise St. vs weak opponent of the week.

They cannot get out of the GOR with the ACC, and its "illegal" for the SEC to invite them, the school, has to make the first move. Now I am sure that ESPN has been talking to them about moving, but they cannot find a way around the GOR.

Washington and Oregon want the Big 10 and the money that it provides, they also figure correctly, that if that never happens, the Big 12 will take them, and they are correct. So, they are in no hurry to sign on with the Big 12.

Taking Washington St. and Oregon St will not force the other state school to make up their mind, or force the issue, you would just end up with the two most undesirable schools from the Pac 12. Both are headed to the MWC unless there is a merger between the Pac 12 and another league.

Now is the time to sink the Pac 12, sign up the four corner teams and put the pressure on Oregon and Washington, nothing else does that, unless the league breaks up.

Nothing says hip, young, and cool like Oregon State vs Kansas football
