Wow, ND wants NBC payout to go from $22 million to $75 million/year, that's quite a leap.
It is, but if media payouts for the Big 10 and SEC are to be believed, I don't see any reason why Notre Dame shouldn't get a similar payout.

Would some of that come from their ACC payout, something like 75-15=60mm?Wow, ND wants NBC payout to go from $22 million to $75 million/year, that's quite a leap.
Yeah it's an increase but ND deserves to make more than some of those Big 10/SEC school are making.Wow, ND wants NBC payout to go from $22 million to $75 million/year, that's quite a leap.
NBC might be making a play for the Big 12 as compliment to their Notre Dame coverage.

I'm actually surprised that they've only been getting $15-$22 million from NBC up to now, but I guess it was signed 10 years ago.Yeah it's an increase but ND deserves to make more than some of those Big 10/SEC school are making.

Agree. Although it’s a shame NBC got rid of their OTA 24/7 sports channel. That had decent distribution.NBC and CBS are both really good fits for the Big 12.
Both would provide consistent broadcast network access, because FOX and ABC will be full with B1G and SEC/ACC games.
Both also have streaming services that are seeking sports content - and the Big 12 is the best league to provide it with some, because it doesn’t have its own network to fill with games. The Pac-12 and ACC are hamstrung here.
CBS/Paramount+ or NBC/Peacock would both be good fits if the money is right. We can get a premium on the streaming stuff, while also securing a game every week on a major broadcast channel.
If this NBC thing is true, the Big 12 could have 1-2 games on NBC each Saturday with Notre Dame also getting a slot. The Big 12 may benefit from playing a game after ND and Irish fans keeping the channel on to watch a nightcap in Ames or Morgantown or whatever.

If ND stays with 5 games in ACC, NBC could do 3-4 Big 18 or Big 20 games a Saturday. 4 when ND is playing in the ACC on ESPN/abc. Others on Peacock. Even better scenario would be Tier 2 on CBS, then Tier 3 on Apple for a healthy amount if they get shutout on BIG
With the addition of 6 or 8 PAC schools, that late time slot could be used, which would draw more fans then PAC vs PAC imo, and be a another OTA spot for B12.
Yeah, that would be real nice for the Big 12 to have that distribution along with the standard non-cable NBC channel. Wow, could be a nice payout for all.NBC is ramping up the USA Network to offer sports OTA. I think something like over 98% of cable households have access to it.
Per internet search Phil & family are worth $40B. He could endow a couple Billion to the Oregon athletic department and Oregon could take a lessor share for the Big10 TV money.

There's probably shoeboxes full of cash in the back room of the store. They may be worth that much, but how much of that is in liquid assets? I imagine most of that is locked up in ownership of Nike.

Owning Nike stock might be a birthright to Phil Knight and his family. But liquidating a couple billion $ of Nike stock should be pretty easy. I am sure he/family would do it over time. They may be worth that much, but how much of that is in liquid assets? I imagine most of that is locked up in ownership of Nike.
2016 I think.I'm actually surprised that they've only been getting $15-$22 million from NBC up to now, but I guess it was signed 10 years ago.
I keep hoping Amazon buys all the B12 then sells it back to CBS and NBC so we get both networks plus streaming and pays us $75 mil a school. I just don't see CBS or NBC being able to afford it all by themselves.I'd imagine NBC and or CBS would like some Big 12 basketball content as well. (I know this is not a major driver in the grand scheme of things) but bidding on football and basketball games could put a lot of games on national TV for the conference each week. You wonder if NBC Sports would be brought back to the television lineup if there was this kind of content available. I'd also think CBS Sports Network would get some games too.
I wonder if they might use some odd start times for football like 10:30 AM central for football to get a quick start on that early window. Big 12 football could literally be on 14 hours/Saturday each week depending on additions to the conference. TV partners would like that.
