With these bloated super-conferences, there will HAVE to be multiple cellar dwellers. Especially if they'll now be forced to play nine conference games instead of eight. I'm sure the Sooners will be able to keep their heads above the likes of Texas, Missouri, Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee, Vanderbilt (ha ha), Ole Miss, Mississippi State, and South Carolina. Consistently, though? We'll see.

It'll be interesting if Florida can get back to what they should even be.

I think OU will consistently be an 8-10 win team in the SEC. They aren't making a 4 team playoff. They could make a 12 team one.
Probably what Florida will be for a while as well

Elite is Alabama or Georgia. I'd say A&M is successful, which is where I think Oklahoma ends up.

Alabama isn't elite, Nick Saban is elite. He turned LSU into a "top tier" (image as seen by the public) program and resurrected Alabama as a power house. If he was here Iowa State would be competing for National Titles, though the level of talent is lower.

Georgia doesn't have the history of success and arguably doesn't even have the level of recent success (save for last year) as OU. OU will now be playing by the SEC rules and can now recruit the "SEC kids" in addition to the other national and Texas recruits they have always brought in. If LSU, which is a ****** school in a ******* ******** town, can thrive, OU will be just fine. And now they will get the bonus of "being in the SEC" with ranking an image. Even if it's the same ******* team 10-2 in the SEC is better than 10-2 everywhere else, even when the schedule isn't really that much harder (which it isn't when you break it down).

Sure the fans are excited for the 4 cream puff OOC games they'll now have every year.

I meant that A&M initially struggled in the adjustment period, but they picked up where they left off as a program. They're essentially the same in the SEC as they were in the Big 12.

They didn't struggle. They were just as good there as they were here. It's not like they were great, only to struggle in the mighty SEC.

Nick Saban is definitely elite. However, so is Alabama. Before he stepped foot on campus to coach the Tide, Alabama was already first in every single category in SEC history: Wins, Winning Percentage, National Championships, SEC Championships, Bowl Games, Bowl Wins, you name it. Just as an example, he is the 5th coach to lead Alabama to Undefeated, Untied Bowl Championship seasons following Wallace Wade, Frank Thomas, Bear Bryant and Gene Stallings and the 4th to do it twice (Stallings only had one). They are also the only SEC team to win at least one SEC Championship in every decade.

OU will be fine. No reason that they can't be Georgia.

Top 10 finishes 2012-2021
OU 8 GA 7
Top ten finishes 2002-2011
OU 6 GA 5
What's their record in the playoffs? they've won one national championship since 1985 and that was in 2000 - 22 years ago. Do you think they're going to fare better playing Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Georgia, and A&M? Looks to me like about third in the league will be their average.

OU is today, a better program better than Auburn and aTm, so third is probably a good call.
I have more faith in them being able to sustain 10 win type of seasons than TX.

I agree but it seems statistically improbable that Texas will be able to maintain its mediocrity indefinitely. I think there's a coach out there somewhere who can ignore the alumni, install their own system, and be successful.

In my view they will displace LSU. Elite now and then, damn good all the other times.

Different football in the SEC, if they keep their Riley identity, they’ll be more successful. Who knows where they land with the new guy.
