Chicago Bears bought Arlington Heights track only to build next to Soldier Field?

Looks like Jack Trice sides. Randy must feel like a king in our press box with what's shown here.

Probably becuase JTS and this concept are from the same era. I believe they are both a copy of the Bill's Stadium in Orchard Park. Bill's Stadium was brand new and I'm sure well liked in the early 70's.

Near the City
Yeah I liked it and it wasn't a huge hassle to park. I guess they moved back to Soldier Field in 2020 but not sure why.

Because tickets are reasonable it'd be a great family vacation activity at Soldier Field. Sox tickets are a good value too but no way I'd take a family to Cubs/Bulls/Bears for what tickets were when I last checked. I'd be upgrading the hotel before considering dropping that kind of money.

My understanding is they got a new ownership group that wanted to be in the city. Also there was a rumor or maybe more than a rumor that the Ricketts family was looking at putting a stadium in the Lincoln Yards project and putting an USL team in there. I don't know if that had any effect on the Fire wanting back in the city. Bridgeview was a haul from the city so they felt they were missing a lot of fans.

I haven't been for a game there yet for the Fire. I will miss the easy tailgate situation in Bridgeview I am sure.

LOL, in the article a newspaper clip cited Chicago Mayor Richard Daley insisting at the time (1975) that he would go to court to force the Bears to remove Chicago from their name. The guy coulda been a poster here.
Just goes to show you that nothing really changes.

A game on the South Side would be as miserable to get to as the current stadium already is, maybe worse for most folks. I'm just guessing they've looked into all that already and access is the main highlight of the AH location.

The city has done crazy things in the past on the lakefront.

We woke up one day to find big X’s bulldozed on the Meigs Field lakefront runway.

I’m not a Bears fan at all, but I think them moving to Arlington Heights would be a great move from them. Soldier field is small and sucks. The location of it also sucks.
I always liked the location right in the city. When we lived there my office had a southeast view with Soldier Field and the lake in the background. Sentimental.
