It’s sad that he has to play quarterback. Kid could have been a he k of a defensive back or wide out. A few years ago we had another kid that did the same thing. Can’t remember his name but he ended up at Ohio University
I think that Re-Al could have been a really good slot receiver...maybe even an NFL one. He would have stepped right in after Deshaunte Jones graduated and we wouldn't have missed a beat. We've been trying to replace Jones ever since.

Too early to know for sure, but sure seems McDonald made a big mistake as he was penciled in as a starter here. Chasing the immediate NIL $ might prove to be a mistake.

Who knows... not going to fault him for getting paid. But I also would think that actually getting on the field this year and likely starting / playing a big role on this defense makes him more valuable next year. No idea what he got, and you can always get injured.... So, who knows? just doesn't seem likely that he was paid very much to be a backup safety. Wish him the best.

I don't know about that, no ones even seen him play WR. There's more to it than being quick/fast.

Noel is the guy at slot now and will be very good.

Tarique Milton was good in the slot when he wasn’t hurt, and Jaylin Noel has already surpassed Jones in some ways. Not sure where this is coming from.
Huh? In what ways has Noel passed Deshaunte Jones already? Certainly not in any way on the football field.

Milton was also clearly a step down from Jones.

Doesn’t surprise me Scates didn’t play. I think that guy had some work ethic/attitude problems at Iowa State

Milton was better as an outside receiver, and Noel is not even close to surpassing Jones at this point. I'm not sure what you've been watching. Jones is majorly underrated. We designed a lot of the offense around him and haven't had anything like it since.

I’m not sure what you’ve been watching. Or reading, I swear some of you struggle with reading comprehension.

Some of you also seem to insist on comparing freshmen with senior (or pro) versions of players.

Milton had 34 catches is freshman season at M. That’s easily comparable to Jones’ 37 catches. He would have done well there his junior season, aside from injuries.

His senior season, well…

The point is, it’s not like we’ve been “looking for a replacement” since Jones left.

As far as Noel, I literally said that he exceeded Jones “in some ways”, not that he was better overall right now.

First, he beat out a returning senior (Milton) for the job. He had 39 catches as a freshman, to Jones’ 37. He both returned punts and kickoffs, which Jones didn’t. Oh, and he’s faster than Jones ever was.

Which of these do you think failed to exceed Jones at the same stage of their careers?

So again, the point being, it’s not like we’re still looking for a replacement for Deshaunte Jones.

Noel is firmly established at the M.

I’m not sure what youve been watching , but your arguments are simply factually wrong. And I am comparing just freshman versions. Why did you focus solely on number of catches and ignore yards and TDs? Or big plays? I can tell you why - because Jones had many of those. Yea, even as a freshman. And Noel did not.

To date, Noel is the king of 6 catches for 25 yards. 7 for 33. Etc. He has a ton of potential and I like his chances, but to date he has not yet established himself as a good Big 12 WR. I think it’s coming, but he’s behind Jones to this point in their careers. He’s certainly not ahead of him, which is why I responded to that incorrect statement in your post.

Me thinks you are suffering from a case of recency bias, or else you are just seeing Noel’s potential instead or what he is delivering on the field.

To say that my arguments are factually wrong is just plain buck stupid. Because facts literally cannot be factually wrong.

Again, I said “in some ways”. I then stated exactly, precisely what those ways were. I find it unfortunate that you are unable to process that.

I’ll type slowly this time, so that maybe you can understand.

I.

Did not.

Say.

That Noel is a better player.

Overall.

There. Did that help?

I don’t know how else to get through your stubborn insistence that I’m saying something that I’m not. Especially when it wasn’t the freaking point I was trying to make in the first place.
