I recently had the thought of "Why don't we use the Block I without the State script", so I put together some versions to see what they might look like.

A few notes:
-DITCH THE BEVEL
-I wanted to stick with the official colors, so I used Cyclone Cardinal, and Cyclone Gold
-I also made a set with University Gold, which is a step towards more of an old gold
-The only other schools that use a Block I as their primary logo are Illinois and Idaho

I like this, I also would like it with the State on it. Just without the bevels.

I have never liked the bevels, at least for anything other than maybe a University mark. But for the Athletic Department they should ditch the bevels.

The block I / I-State without bevels. The Script versions of Iowa State and Cyclones from the 80's and the modified 80's Orr-nado without any wordmark are the best logos. The 80s Cy logo is good, but the boots. I like the new modified version with the modern Cy walking like the 80s version without the boots. I hate the new Cy logo that is a imitation of the Wisky badger logo.

I'm not speculating on unis this weekend, just wondering, in your own opinion, could ISU vs Iowa play color vs. color, ie Cardinal vs. black?

IMO, they could do it for a noon KO, but not a 6PM KO

Rule is, as long as enough contrast, it's allowed. (USC-UCLA traditionally does it).

I would like it. Looks good when they've done it in basketball.

I think those things have to be agreed upon, before season, by NCAA/conference rule. Basically for a school to use other than normal light vs color scheme, both schools have to agree in writing before the season, and the home team has preference.

Not that those things have to be made public, but in most cases they would be hyped up a lot probably as a color rush type game leading up to it.

I know there was some talk about it on here at some point. It is what has to be done if you want to wear White at home. Basically the home team has the choice and then has to notify the other team before the season. As far as going both dark, I would assume the visiting team would have to notify the home team that they want to do it and the home team would have to agree, or the home team would have to ask the visitor to wear colors.

Similar to the damn tent thing at Baylor. When push comes to shove, if there isnt something in writing before the season, there is nothing to enforce it. Even when safety or common sense is involved.

I would not mind a color rush game on occasion. Whether it be this one or some other one. I look at it the same as alternate uniforms. It is fine once in a while to mix things up, and for special games. But over use ruins the effect.

When I was little in NE Iowa we watched M*A*S*H on a black and white TV and I thought Henry's 'I' sweater was for Iowa. When we got a color TV it didn't help because it looked like a yellow 'I' on a black sweater. It wasn't until I noticed that his coffee mug was orange with a blue 'I' that I realized that he wasn't supposed to be an Iowa grad.

True story...

And yes, there was a time when people had only one TV and it was only a black and white TV.

Similar story, different detail. I had some confusion, didn't have to do with B&W/color different (although we did do color-TV upgrade shortly after series began) even though Henry wore the "I" sweater, I mentally connected "Hawkeye" Pierce with it, so I assumed it was Iowa.

I was young and paid attention only to some things, apparently :)

Was just talking about some things like this with my mom. She didn't have running water, indoor plumbing, electricity, or a phone, until High school.

This was NE Iowa, and the only reason they got electricity when they did was her dad paid the REC in the other county to come to their house, otherwise their county wasn't getting it for several more years.

It is amazing how far things have come and have far removed from those times people are today. Being its only been a generation.

I was lucky we had a color TV, growing up, but it was our first color TV, the black and white, was put in the basement, by the time I was old enough to remember.

Are we going to mix in some black?
I’d highly doubt it. Idk what changed but I asked about the uniforms tonight and the person was vague and said that might not be what we go with.

I wish we cared as much about this game as we do our uniform combo.

Last year we were all so giddy because we wore black and thought that would tick off Iowa and their fans….. and then completely laid an egg in the game and Iowa once again walked off the field with the trophy and laughed at us and our uniform fetish.

Now it seems again we might be “up to something” for our uniforms this game….. who gives a s**t? Just win the f’in thing for once!

I understand it has nothing to do with the outcome of the game most likely……. just irritates the crap out of me.

Seemed like us wearing black last year really bothered them didn’t? We showed them!
