They're going to owe him an extra $7.5 million in buyout money because they couldn't slog through 20 more days. Amazing.

I saw on Nebraska forums they want to pass on Campbell since think he is Riley 2.0 and cannot recruit. I’m not worried about Campbell going to Lincoln but I hope their boosters and AD are as clueless as their fans.

I remember when Trev Alberts was on ESPN- clueless would be a kind descriptor of that idiot.

I don't think it'd be a terrible fit -

but I also am about 99.99999% sure Campbell won't go to Nebraska but you never know. Ain't crap in life guaranteed so I'm glad we finally beat Iowa and are looking to be enroute to another bowl game and hopefully CMC sticks around for a long time

No, his buyout is $15M as of today. It drops to $7.5M on October 1st. I was suggesting that perhaps Alberts told Frost he would be fired on October 1, but if Frost agreed to go today they'd add a little extra to the $7.5M.
That is what I was thinking. Your AD would be a complete idiot to give up $7.5 million for 3 weeks. They even have a bye in there, so only 2 games, and technically it could be one if they fired him the morning of the IN game, which I would still feel is the best move.

He'd go coach High School somewhere with all the money he's earned before he would coach at Nebraska and recruit against us immediately.

I stated this almost exactly earlier in a thread. If Trev can negotiate the buyout down to 8-10mil it's worth it to change the narrative for the national audience next week.

ISU was a mess when CMC got there, and something to build up, which is the kind of challenge CMC seems to enjoy, and there were hints of potential.

But I just don't think he wants the onslaught of dysfunction that is in Lincoln.

But never playing against us. And if he goes anyone in the Big 10 or Notre Dame ever, he'd have to recruit against us. immediately. So I guess I don't understand that argument - we recruit Ohio pretty heavily.

Heck if he goes anywhere he'd probably recruit against because everyone recruits Texas and Florida for the most part.

I think he never goes anywhere he would coach against us which is why I never ever worried about Oklahoma or Texas. But the recruiting against us part? I doubt that matters since everyone recruits against everyone anymore.

-----------------------------

again in no way do I think he leaves but I also don't think its as unrealistic as pigs flying. What were the odds of Brian Kelly to LSU? Harsin to Auburn? Etc. It doesn't always make sense to the outside world

------------

Now Campbell seems really happy, has enjoyed his time at ISU and seems to really enjoy building the program and everything else going on in Ames so I'd be beyond shocked if it happened and I'm not losing any sleep since I doubt it happens but it wouldn't be the craziest thing I've seen

I can't see Campbell going to Nebraska with their history of firing coaches. Look we can pay you twice as much as you make in Ames, but if you aren't winning 9 games by year two your head coaching carrier is over.
