Bold - No they aren't anymore, not even close.

I wouldnt even say "anymore". Id call Alabama, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Notre Dame, and USC the true blue bloods based on overall weeks in and weeks atop the AP poll.

Yes, they had a great run in the 90s (when the actual blue bloods were generally down), but generally outside of that they've been in the next tier down.

I never say never as a Cyclone fan. No way Fred takes a horrible basketball job at Nebraska, no way Cael goes to Penn State. Just the Cyclone fan in me gets nervous

Fred probably doesn't take that job directly out of Ames (like Campbell, he would have had better options!), and I don't think comparing non-revenue sports to football is really relevant.

He will leave a trail of destructions, as always

Agree. Fred probably needed something after he got canned by the Bulls (not financially but to help his self esteem / confidence).

Cael got tons of money from Penn State and they were willing to throw loads of money for the facilities, basically creating something out of nothing. This wouldn’t happen in our wrestling program.

Agree that you can never say never. But 100% confident that HCMC would never leave a team in season. Huge douche move, and Matt is not a douche.

Fred didn’t leave Ames to go to Lincoln. He left to coach the NBA Chicago Bulls then got fired and went to Lincoln when no one else would hire him.

Think of all of the past coaches we’ve had in the two major sports that left for an equal or slightly better job. When was the last one? Hell, in the past 30 years the only ones I can think of are Fred to the nba, Chizik to auburn where he won a championship and Floyd to the NBA.

Campbell might leave Ames at some point, but it ain’t to go to Lincoln.

At this point people claiming to have inside info regarding Campbell are just showing they don't know what the **** they are talking about.

I could be wrong, but they can’t contact CMC during the season right? And he doesn’t have an agent for them to contact like they normally would for any other coach.

Fred also left for The Bulls before he went to Nebraska.

People need to breathe. Nobody knows at this point what CMC is thinking.

I will say that the hate for Nebraska sometimes skews peoples thinking though. They will be a top 10-15 NIL player, have great facilities, huge fan base, unlimited money, and play in a top league.

They may not attract any HCs at the elite level right now, but they will get some surprising interest from good names.

Take it a step farther and look around the P5 in general.

Very few P5 head coaches arrived in their current positions by jumping directly from another P5 school. Some may have been a prior P5 hc, but generally its after being fired, taking an nfl job, etc and they come back and take another P5 HC gig. More often than not, coaches tend to stay put where they've got a good thing going rather than rolling the dice on starting over somewhere new.

This for some reason made me think of Dan Mullen.
