Not exactly sure.
I could be wrong, but they can’t contact CMC during the season right? And he doesn’t have an agent for them to contact like they normally would for any other coach.
They have to talk to JP first to talk to MC. Or talk to agents (which he doesn’t have) or a lawyer to talk to him. You can talk during the season.

I'm prepared to eat crow, but there is a 0% chance that CMC leaves what he has at ISU to go to Nebraska. His family is very happy with their life right now and that is something money can't buy. With how things have started this season, there could be an opening again at Notre Dame within a couple of years. That's a job we should worry about losing him to. Ohio State, Notre Dame...that might be about it.

Yup. Those jobs, and maybe Michigan and Penn State, are the ones I worry about most…but I have zero worries about Campbell answering Nebraska’s calls.

People need to breathe. Nobody knows at this point what CMC is thinking.

I will say that the hate for Nebraska sometimes skews peoples thinking though. They will be a top 10-15 NIL player, have great facilities, huge fan base, unlimited money, and play in a top league.

They may not attract any HCs at the elite level right now, but they will get some surprising interest from good names.
This is all true.

But it isn’t going to be CMC.

He wants to build a program on his own and create his own legend and a lasting legacy. Nebraska already has Osborne’s stamp on it.

Best case they can get back to Iowa/Wisky level. Usually go to a bowl, scrap and scrape to make the B1G title game and then get slobberknocked. Best case.

If this was posted, I missed it, but Dodd is reporting that Campbell has interest in Nebraska. That does seem to be a step up from the usual tactic of just blindly adding his name to a list of candidates for an open job.

Dennis Dodd has a big job and likely some decent sources, but keep in mind that he's also a complete Mizzou troll who has it out for the B12. Now that they've secured their spot in the SEC lifeboat, he has no problem raining fire on KU, K-State, ISU, etc.

I actually have very little hatred for Nebraska. They became irrelevant to me as soon as they left the conference. It’s a good job for coaches solely interested in making as much money as they possibly can. I don’t think it’s a good job anymore for coaches where that’s not in the top of their priority list.

Yup. And Nebraska has WAY more drama than he wants to deal with. That's another reason why I'm not even sure he'd make the leap to an Ohio State or Notre Dame. He would never be a legend there, and job security is basically non-existent in those programs. I get that being paid 2x or 3x as much is tempting, which is why I think there's definitely a chance he goes - but at this point, he has to have turned down multiple big-time CFB jobs and there's the rumors about the NFL too. The facilities at ISU have gone to a new level now, because of him. He can get anything he wants here, with much lower pressure. That's attractive to a lot of people that actually care about having a family while also being a coach.

Dodd lost a lot of credibility in this last round of realignment IMO. He doesn't seem above slinging poo around anymore.

Tennessee and Florida State are better jobs than Nebby, and Campbell could have had either of those. I would be surprised if he wants Nebraska.

They actually are up there near the front. They have a higher budget than a lot of those 32+ schools and that's while they are losing more football games than they have in years. If they hire the right coach and start winning they will bring in way more cash than most of those 32+ schools. I don't think they will make a good hire but if they do, they will win and raise tons of cash to help them with the NIL.

Front in budget, not the line. And they have to spend that to even be average. That’s indicative of the challenge of being the outpost of the P2.

All these P2 schools can spend now. Nearly all have facilitates. All get exposure.

Nebraska is in front of many of the P5 leftovers and their next coach may come from there. But they’ll have to overpay as those coaches will want to wait for many other P2 jobs

I doubt anyone posting on CF has any credible source that speaks to CMC’s career inclinations including myself. Observation indicates he has great respect for coaches that built and maintained historic storied legacy programs. He is probably making more money now than he ever imagined but one never knows when it comes to where money ranks when in your forties compared to your thirties. We think he walks on water but Nebraska has different aspirations than ISU. I personally don’t think he will be high on their list. Mike Stoops, Matt Rhule & Bill O’Brien rank much higher IMO.

Not even. If the Big Ten gets rid of divisions as is expected and just goes top two, the conference championship is going to every year be Ohio State and then a rotation of Michigan, USC and occasionally Penn State (and Oregon if they join). Nebraska will never sniff a conference championship again.

Just sharing what I'd seen, guys. I find it hard to believe myself, but we'll have to see if other reporters corroborate it.
