Just a thought on all this conference realignment: If they could, don't you think the Big Ten would dump Rutgers, Maryland and Nebraska and replace them with schools that actually matter in football? Same with the SEC, dump Vandy and Missouri, bring in Florida State and Clemson? I know it won't happen, but at least it would be fair. Some really crappy programs are benefitting just from being in a lucky spot that they have done nothing to earn.

They’d keep Nebraska. The success isn’t there any more but the fans are. And that’s revenue. The other two would get curbed

I have no gf or estranged wife.
Guess you will have to ask someone that may know the answer to your question then. I definitely wouldn’t want to know who the knife was for. Reminds me of a favorite quote by Will Rogers : “There are three kinds of men. The one that learns by reading. The few who learn by observation. The rest of them have to pee on the electric fence for themselves.” Will Rogers

Well, something is clearly afoot here...

"An early departure would be subject to both a significant exit fee, expected to be roughly $80 million, and the violation of a grant of rights agreement, which is why both schools and the SEC have been cautious in addressing a potential early departure."

To test electric fences, when I was around 8 or so, my dad would tell me to grab it ifhe didn’t have a screwdriver. You get used to it after a little while.

Yeah Nebraska still has the ratings (but that’s all it has) but who knows for how long. The other two we want around for the lay ups

Nebraska has the ratings because we all want to check out a train wreck. Eventually, they'll just be another mediocre football team and we'll stop caring. The state of Nebraska isn't going to bring in $100m per year. And they're sure as hell not going to contribute via CFP appearances or NCAA tournament shares.

Nebraska is a top ten ish rating program, as long as they stay top 20 I’m fine having them. No one expects a CFP spot for them but we have 5/6 other teams to take care of those 2/3 spots. Same for NCAA when you have 16 you really only need 8/9 good ones.

Couple things on the Non con OU schedule. I dont think that necessarily means anything. My guess partly it is because it is going to be a non con then a conference game and it becomes a tricky scheduling thing when trying to balance and "pay back" the games when they become conference, both to the schools and to the conferences.

On the leaving early, I really dont care, I think all the things that have happened can only help us in negotiations. If they use the early exit money and the elimination of the Longhorn network to boost our deal and it works out as a positive for the conference, and possibly includes us gaining more members to bolster the conference so be it. Roll those exit fees and penalties into the contract if that somehow makes more sense for all involved, whatever works best.

I think ESPN got a dose of what our value is, and what it is if we can fill that late night window, especially if we can add more teams, and I think they got a dose of what the value is to get OUT out early is.

I wouldn't say they didn't earn it because they're losing which, in turn, makes the other guys look much better. But, if we follow your argument, then there'd have to be losers somewhere else. That's why structuring parity is so important in sports. Becoming irrelevant means loss of fan interest.

The NCAA tourney, the big ten has been way off 8/9 good ones. Been one of the weaker leagues the last several years. Generally goes down in a ball of flames first round also.

The BIG isn't dumping Maryland or Rutgers any time soon. Too many cable subscriptions. The Big Ten has generally expanded for subscriptions. The SEC has generally expanded for football quality. Missouri was actually good when they went to the SEC.

Maryland and Rutgers yes but not Nebraska. Say what you want about the bug eaters but they are a huge draw.
