Buffalo still should have taken Breece, they would have been damn near unstoppable.
Unfortunately not the best day for Cyclones in the NFL today. Both RBs were outshined by their teammates (Herbert for the Bears and Carter for the Jets). Lazard and Kolar were out today, but looks like Lively took the rookie TE job from Kolar. Last one up is tomorrow night with Enyi and Denver.
I completely understand this sentiment from an ISU perspective, and it would have been a much better situation for Breece, but Buffalo needed a CB. Their #1 from last year is coming off a torn ACL, and their #2 signed with Pittsburgh. Corner was by far their biggest need, so that's what they drafted in the first round.Buffalo still should have taken Breece, they would have been damn near unstoppable.
David had a terrible day, but the backup Herbert had 9 for 45 and was in the game for goal line work, scored their go ahead TD I believe. Hate to say it, but it appears to be the beginning to the end of David's tenure in Chicago.Guy had no chance most of the time. Would get a handoff and have a guy(s) all over him.
This was my thought as well. Looked pretty obvious that they went away from David while he was in the game. At the same time, it looked like whoever they were playing had one less man in the box when Herbert was in the game. Hard to know, but may have just been an odd matchup thing.David had a terrible day, but the backup Herbert had 9 for 45 and was in the game for goal line work, scored their go ahead TD I believe. The stuff they ran for Herbert had much better blocking. Almost every time David got the ball, the blocking was piss poor. This was my thought as well. Have heard that Herbert fits their run blocking scheme a bit better than David. I'm not really a big x's and o's guy, so I don't really understand all of that, but it's what I've heard. The stuff they ran for Herbert had much better blocking. How cool is it to have a starting WR from one team and the starting RB from the other team be in the same NFL game?
