Anybody seen an actual spelled out timeline on all of this? All I can find is infrastructure and parking lots to be done by August 2025.

All the vertical work is described as "future phases."

Same, how do any of those places survive during the summer?
the same way Wallaby's and hickory park does i guess. Are people under the impression that Ames is a ghost town when school is out? I hope they put some of the baseball games and pro sports on the video stage on Sundays and Saturdays.

Not exactly sure.
How about a giant Christmas Tree in the middle during the season?

This could be a draw from Ames and beyond. Head on down to CyTown, do some skating around the tree, see Santa or something....eat, drink, enjoy
DM has an ice rink on the other side of the river from Wells. During wresting it was busy.

I was just offered condos, townhouses, etc on cytown.com.
Because it had 'domain' registration on the top line, it sounded more like the name wasn't registered yet and these are all ads from a name registrar based on the 'interpretation' of 'cytown'.

How will a sports medicine office, brew pub, and outdoor restaurant survive??

1) Convention traffic from the hotel and convention center
2) Iowa State and Ames have events ALL summer long like campus visits, incoming freshman, Special Olympics, etc.
3) Research park office space brings people to work in the district daily

It will slow without 35K students. But also could keep students in Ames over the summer with employment opportunities.

Lots of positives here for the city and region

It'll be done as they can get leases signed I'm sure.

One observation that made me smile, as a former drumline member...

At about the 0:45 mark, the background music is the cadence "Sticks and Swing." You can just make out the band members saying "Beat the Hawks" on the audio. Full disclosure, most of those band members are actually saying "F*** the Hawks."

I think the obvious question in response to this is, "How does any business in Ames survive during the summer?" Obviously the businesses there will need to adapt to the variable summer/academic year populations just like any other Ames business, but the only difference from other Ames businesses will be their location. And it's not going to be much more difficult for most residents to get to these locations than it is for any business on Duff.

There is a decent amount of big events over the summer (Iowa Games, Special Olympics, Iowa State summer orientation, etc)....not to mention all the AAU bball things happening.

From an Ames perspective, getting in/out of that area for any business WAY easier than many other places. I think i've been to Cy's Lockerroom on S. Duff maybe 3 times...because that is a hell area, lol.

Ames does have permanent residents. Also, corporate meetings, outdoor concerts, maybe a farmer's market type deal, etc. There are a lot of ways to drive traffic there beyond the normal day-to-day. And yes, it will be slower in the summer and get the majority of their revenue during the school year.

Still a little sketchy on timelines and revenue projections. Going from memory, Pollard's quote was something like: "We expect that after full build out, over 20 years, to generate $200M in revenue from CyTown." It wasn't obvious (to me, at least) whether he was saying that full build out will take 20 years, or in the 20 years after full build out it will generate $200M.

I would hope we're not talking about a 20 year timeline for full build out.
