Lol, I was at that game. Usually when teams are "playing not to lose" they don't go for it on 4th down 5 times instead of punting.

It turns out Tulane is looking like a bowl team, they had a good game plan, shut down Vaughn and make Martinez beat them through the air. Fortunately Martinez couldn't hit the broad side of a barn that day so their plan worker.

Our defense will be by far the best they've faced all year. Tech and Oklahoma are a total joke. The game won't be the automatic layup win for K-State you guys are thinking. Their recievers and tight ends are poor and we have a better defense.
But from what I understand is Martinez didn't run when he dropped back and didn't see what he liked in the passing game, he stayed committed to the pass and couldn't make it work. You saw the game so indeed you have a better perspective, I was just going off of what the KSU coaches said.

Lets see:
Oklahoma and OSU every year
Baylor when they have a pulse. We never beat them when they actually do though
Iowa when they arent fielding the worst offense since the 1930s
Notre Dame, Clemson, Washington State in our bowls

Get a few of those maybe instead of just feeding on crap teams and no showing all the important ones or roughly toss up games? That would be cool. Havent done that since Purdys freshman year though. There's a word for programs that are stuck beating the bottom teams only. Its platued.

Terrific let’s just move on from Campbell. Move on from the five bowl games in a row. Move on from the 5 winning conference records in a row. Can’t see anyway that won’t turn out well.
What exactly do you want to see happen? Change coordinators? Or is this just a toddler throwing a fit situation.

Well, whatever happened he looked absolutely dreadful and the fans started booing him at certain points. I think it had more to do with Tulanes defense being good than anything else.

The last 2 weeks he's looked like an All-American because of the pathetic defenses he's playing. I think our defense can bring him back down to more of a Tulane performance instead of an Oklahoma or Tech type game.

And once again, find me the post saying that I or anyone else wants that.

I'd like to see a program that leans on its fundamentals/strengths in the margins instead of hearing about it without seeing it.

Generally the things we know we're getting from ISU football are the things that are the difference in this 5-14 or whatever in close games.

The general success is great. What I think we're watching this year is what that lack of foundation does in a rebuild year.

CMC is a great guy and a great leader. He does a wonderful job of getting young men ready to move on, whether that’s in the NFL or in life.

Like all people, he has flaws. I think we’ve witnessed them the past 7 years with his stubbornness to not make some changes that are clearly necessary.

One of the best traits of leadership is understanding where you have weaknesses and humbling yourself to make changes that might make you look like you don’t know everything.

The next few months will tell us if he’s an elite leader or not. My opinion. Take it or leave it.

You are fighting a never ending battle. Any criticism of a coach means you want them fired. Some posters on here lack basic reading comprehension skills and get emotionally charged if something said isn’t completely positive.

No. Some of us get frustrated by a bad loss which then turns into a someone basically saying we haven’t accomplished anything since 2018. I’m sorry but when did we get to the point that five bowl appearances in 5 years is something to take a crap on. Turning this into a “we will always by 6-6 or 7-5” is going too far. And quite frankly if we go 7-5 every year I would think that would be quite an accomplishment based on what I have seen as a fan for 40+ years.

We are 3-2. If we finish 6-6, would you consider that a failure in a “rebuild” year for this program?

We are going to get boat raced by K-State

I've got that same feeling. Maybe it's just because I'm still so ticked off about yesterday?

But KSU seems to be the opposite of us.... they are very well coached and don't shoot themselves in the foot like we do. A well oiled machine. This game has the potential to be very ugly for us.

EXACTLY. We have seen things over the past 5 years that we never thought we'd see at Iowa State.

They lost to Tulane for ****'s sake. I think Klieman is a really good coach and Kansas State may very well beat us (considering it was always obvious we were rebuilding). But if Klieman is allowed a bad loss by our fans, why isn't Campbell?

Reading this thread is like listening to Soundoff after a hok loss. It is not a good look.
The message boards/call in show crowds are all the same just with different colors. They are pumped when they win and apoplectic when they lose, with varying degrees of wanting to burn the program with a flamethrower to the awe shucks, team can do no wrong types who will be on to Cincinnati.

Kansas State is a good team but that well-oiled machine lost to Tulane two weeks ago. And after that game the fans were calling for a change at offensive coordinator.

Someone has to lose games in the conference and your opponent gets a say in it. Unfortunately, we took the losses the first two weeks. Let’s see if we can turn it around.

Campbell is allowed a bad loss. No one is calling for his head. But he's had several losses like this in his tenure that make you wonder how good we could be if we didn't leave so many points on the field or had disciplined special teams.
