The fans did not want to fry the kicker. The fans were puzzled by the coach who sent out the kicker in crucial situation when everyone knew the kicker just didn't have it on that given day. The fans gave the kicker a great ovation after his first and third kicks today. Try scoring a TD coach...
Try running with the football matt campbell!! Just mimick Adrian Martinez if you want to win, & have you quarterback RUN WITH THE FOOTBALL AND THEN HEAD OUTTA BOUNDS IN FRONT OF THE TACKLERS!!

but what AD would hire him at this point? He's performed miracles at Iowa State but we have about the least amount of expectations at a major program as you're gonna get....but it's looking like we won't win another game this year
I AGREE LoyalSons...I told my wife last night that if we don't beat West Virginia, We Won't win another game this year!

He may not be talking to us specifically but he is talking about a fan base that has supported him and the team through thick and thin. A support that is relatively unique compared to the actual success on the field.

You know this though and just want to be a little sanctimonious.
Sanctimonious, what a great word. A lot of that going on in today's world. Football I suppose, and other.

Just a little lack of sleep here, more than likely.

Oh, I'm sure he got some **** from the psychos. Campbell should know better than to think that's the side of the fanbase he's dealing with over the ones who went crazy for him sinking his first FG of the night. And if that's how low he actually thinks of the fans then we got a serious issue here
Campbell's real fear, is that he won't be able to get another Division One Head Coaching Position ever again...Just look at Scott Frost, NO AD IN HIS RIGHT MIND WOULD EVER HIRE SCOTT FROST!!

Don't think Scott Frost wants another job. Seemed like he just wanted to fleece Nebraska and then retire.

That obviously is not the case with Campbell.

I don’t think he has a fragile ego. I also think he generally appreciates our fans (supposedly it’s a major reason he came). I think we know he really cares about his players. Seems to me that just came out in a slightly wrong way. Again, think it’s basically a nothing burger. Let’s not pull a Nebraska and get rid of a great coach because we’re greedy and stupid.
Again, it's not his statement about the fans. It is his lack of candor regarding the offense.

Just a difficult dance right now.

While I don’t understand the value in going after fans, I guess I’ll take it as progress because it’s an actual thought that isn’t one of his half dozen go-to coach speak phrases.

Tennessee is uber talented yes, but their offensive scheme is also innovative and challenging to stop.....we run the same old vanilla offense every game and we're losing because of it

What kinds of things do you think ISU could realistically could do with their available talent?

Rudy Wade says Matt Campbell does make coaching changes involving long time coaches. Came with Campbell from Toledo. Campbell is not going to fire anyone mid season. Trust Campbell.

I had to laugh at this . Let’s make it Alabama lol

I've had issues with play calling when it comes to situational issues or just not sticking with something when it's there in the past.

But when ISU lacks speed and an Oline than can set the LOS your options are only more limited.

Maybe roll outs with Dekkers or something but the run game still has to be a threat there.

1. He’s never said anything like this before. Not sure why we can’t chalk it up to a stupid comment and/or accept the possibility that Gilbert took a lot of **** this week from our fans.

2. He’s not going to fire manning during the press conference. If we continue to suck, he will make a change.
I would appreciate having you in my corner.

With regard to your 2nd point, I would just like to see a little change in the way Matt comes across. Give us fans some hope that maybe some change will be on the horizon. I don't think he has that 'change' in him yet.

Otherwise, I'm leaning to your side.

Has it, though? The offense was good enough to achieve a mediocre level of success. It has been far from "solid."
Exactly. Go back and look at basically all but what, 2 losses over the past 3 or 4 years and they're all because the offense didn't do enough. The defense routinely shows out and plays great, last night included, yet the offense completely failed to deliver the mediocre performance that would have won the game.

No one is asking for elite offense, but average sure would be nice. At least over the past few years you had multiple NFL players on that side who made a bad scheme passable. They don't have that now.
