This. ISU is not getting blown off the field. They could easily be 6-0 with a few adjustments. The offense needs to start airing it out more. The D is holding their own. This is not the ERA of Walden, Criner, Rhoades, and (some years) McCarney. Matt has gotten ISU to new levels. There will be some years of rebuilding, too. We are not lucky enough to be in the B1G West. We will be ok, folks.
We are 5-1 if Norton and Brock are 100% the whole year. Its as simple as that, we cannot afford injuries to key players, especially on offense. Which is odd in another way, the defense plays a lot of players, the offense largely does not.

Our D is excellent. We would be 5-1 or 6-0 with competent special teams and offensive coaching. That all comes down to coaching. That is why it’s so frustrating.

No, even before Brock went down we were last in rushing. He has nowhere to run. There are a lot of stats in a lot of threads why that wouldn't have been the case. Watch the Texas Homer video for a great run down of our o-line and passing issues that contribute to our dismal running game.

There are many reasons to be on any side of the various hypotheticals, but I think when you look at data, stats, metrics, etc they tell a pretty compelling story.

No, we aren't. And if our offense plays so few players, isn't that a problem with coaching?

As I have asked, does ISU have absolutely no gameplan for when the run game isn't working?

What exactly was their strategy going to be if they ever fell far behind?

At some point people need to start feeling really uncomfortable about where we are in year 7.

We have the exact same problems offensively as last year, with far less talent.

I want ISU to be more than OK.

Iowa football is OK under KF, and horribly boring to watch.

It seems as if our game plan is to take what the defense is giving us and we have, but we've failed to put up points (which is obviously the most important factor). Matt has never been one to full-scale change things mid-game when the game is tight, as I think he believes the team will end up on top (not saying this is a good thing). He loves grind it out victories, but when you lose those close ones while not performing, that's when change is needed.

Tom Manning has to get better. Matt needs to get better. But I think your last sentence is outlandish.

I'd say if Brock was 100% healthy we might by 4-2. We would still be a poor rushing team, but Brock's ability to get tough yards, make people miss, and most importantly open up the whole playbook due to his pass protection and receiving ability would've been big in the KSU and KU losses. He was a difference-maker against Iowa.

I don't think Norton being healthy vs. Baylor changes that outcome. I think he's a good back with lots of potential, but that's a leap to say.

I love Iowa State and want nothing more than for them to be good year after year but I think your expectations are a bit off. We will have years where we struggle and years where all of the pieces fit. We will not consistently be a powerhouse year in and year out. What we will be though is a team that is salty as hell and in every single game.

That's not to say change isn't needed in areas. Whether that's change of Manning's philosophy or a change at the end of the year if things don't get better. I will become worried if we don't change anything this year, still stink on offense, and Manning is still in the same position. Until then, let's see what the rest of this season entails because if we know anything about Matt's teams in the past, they will continue to get better as the season progresses and will hit their peak right around this time. Maybe this team's peak on offense is later.

I don't mean beginning of the end like that. Pretty much anywhere he goes from here on out is going to have a more vocal and critical fanbase than ISU does. I just took it as a sign that maybe he's a little more open to looking around than previously thought. But maybe it's nothing and in reality it's just a form of deflection from the bad showing by the offense.

Fans start to get to determine assistants then Campbell will move on. Take the $100 million and leave. We can get back to the glory years of Chizik. And Rhoads. Cheap seats. Lots of parking. Able to leave before 4th quarter and avoid traffic. Good times.

And we'll score 30 points but give up 50! GIVE ME BACK THAT

(side note : we obviously need to get better on offense)

Exactly. The frog likes to point to year 7 like you can’t have bad years. Every team does.

I have confidence that changes will be made. But I also don’t think I need to know what those changes will be.

Explain year 6 with an NFL QB, RB, and 2 TEs.

We thought it was Purdy's limited arm strength.

I wanted urgency and adaptation during the season last year, I had no idea they would let things get even worse in the offseason, especially with the transfer portal available.

I love people bringing up the past when we never had these facilities, equal revenue sharing, and some great recent nationwide visibility.

Imagine settling for mediocrity and not expecting more out of people paid MILLIONS.

We still have less money and resources than just about every school in the conference.

So question.. If this team that doesn't have all that talent ends up winning 6-7 games, what will that say about the team / coaches? I mean, that's far less talent producing just as much as the team that was loaded. Again, I'll reiterate, there are obvious changes that need to be made, but you're being a bit extreme.

Then why would you expect top half Big 12 results when we pay our coaches bottom half salaries?

Mediocrity. Achieved it under Earle Bruce. 30 years in the Wilderness and we finally get the best coach in Iowa State history. And you complain and think you know better. Team is young. They’ll improve. Hunter gets better or he will have competition coming in JJ. Trust Campbell. He will get things fixed.
