Iowa State looked good. Some mistakes at key points which hurt. And god awful officiating to end the game.

Bad teams play in close games all the time. Fans fool themselves into thinking "they're so close, theyre not that bad".
Interesting. I’ve felt all year (and is really clear when you listen to games in the radio) that the other teams are making several more plays each game than we are. We just don’t make plays when they count.

Never used the dumb button until now…thanks for that.
I made a similar post as you just did here, to a poster last week who was blaming X. Perhaps this is the same dude, I don't know, doesn't matter.

Xavier is not the reason we lost this game. He is one of the reasons we were even close. X is awesome! You and most lucid fans know this.

Not even worried about the L today (even though it sucked), as I think ISU would have beaten both KU and K-State with today's offensive game plan-output. If they play like that the rest of the way offensively (minus the int. and fumble), I like ISU's chances to win the remaining home games and finish 6-6. Glass half full.

Difficult to overcome two turnovers, a blocked punt and missed FG. Also allowed a long KO return. We certainly will not have the refs ever bail us out.

This is a team that always seems to be able to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. When things are on the line we make miscues (Dekker int, X's drop, missed FG again, etc.). I'm just not sure how their mental state will be moving forward as they continue to lose game after game when in every likelihood they should be winning. The odds of another bowl have essentially been flushed down the toilet as the chance of winning three more is pretty slim. I'll be pleasantly surprised when they win one. The off week is coming at a good time. Can the coaches do some magic and create a second season? Only time will tell. In the mean time I just ordered another nut cup from Amazon.

Haven't read the thread and I'm sure this isn't an original sentiment, so indulge me here.

But I'm so sick and tired of losing games the exact same way. Get a drive going, commit a dumb penalty. Take a dumb timeout because we can't get our sht together. Commit a red zone turnover. The worst special teams in college football.

This stuff has gone on for *years* and never changes. Yes, we've had some bad calls. Today might have been one. But that should not distract from the fact that from the standpoint of attention to detail and execution, we are usually a disaster - often even when we win.

I easily would put today’s loss in that category of “you have to put yourself in position to play through some calls”. You have to, and they didn’t.

The people who watched the first half of Baylor and act like that was a similar situation are deluding themselves. There’s no “playing through” that sort of nonsense and it’s ridiculous to expect the guys to do so. I quote Campbell on his way to the locker room “well that was some $*** huh?”.

As I watched today…if you could slightly alter 3 plays, they’d be close missed opportunities or bad split second decisions by ISU players. Watching the replay of Baylor game it’s pretty clear the biggest plays you’d reverse were plays where our defense already did its job superbly and got screwed out of what they had earned.
