Interesting. I’ve felt all year (and is really clear when you listen to games in the radio) that the other teams are making several more plays each game than we are. We just don’t make plays when they count.

That's where I'm at with this team. It's another week where people will be pouting about the refs, luck, etc. But Texas made plays when they had to and ISU didn't, just like Baylor, KU, and KSU. And when that happens every week it's because you just aren't a good football team.

Why can't the players carry some blame? They're grown ass men who get paid. Coaches carry a lot of blame (refs too) but players have to make basic damn plays.
How much is our kicker getting paid?

Honestly it’s refreshing to just know there is hope for this offense within this season. I was starting to lose hope.
I wouldn't get the hopes up too much. Sure, Manning schemed a game today that highlighted Dekker's strengths (i.e. downfield routes, layered routes, focus between the hashes, green light for running lanes, etc.) I won't be the least bit surprised if we don't do ANY of these things next game.

FWIW refs were way better than Baylor and Iowa. Last week actually barely noticed officiating in a loss so it’s frustrating to know a well officiated game is possible in the Big 12.

I feel upbeat that the offense showed life. I think Dekkers proved he can be what we all hoped for if the coaches and scheme give him the chance.

You obviously didn't watch OU today.

Impressive job by their defense today against a KU team that had about 30 yards of total offense in the second half to us. When was the last time our defense allowed anything close to what they scored today?

You had probably written us off against Texas too after they won 49-0 to OU.

From here on out this season: redshirt the guys banged up, give the young guys some reps and experience, let Dekkers be more creative out there (what have you got to lose?). Above all…KEEP Kohl and other recruits in the fold. Hit the frickin transfer portal HARD. Forget about 2022, this season is toast. Onward…

This is probably closer to the truth than a lot of us want to admit.

This x 1000.

We pretty much are what our record says we are.... the worst team in the conference. Maybe not talent wise.... but making crucial mistakes at the worst times... having a poor offense.... and easily the worst special teams..... and it's nearly every week too.... that will make you the worst team in your conference every time.

Just think about how this game opened today.... we get the ball and almost immediately have to punt.... and the punt gets blocked and it wasn't even close (they could have just tackled our punter). You would think after all the issues we've had this year in punt protection that we might have worked on that glaring issue and have it figured out by now.... but nope. That is ENTIRELY on this coaching staff.

And constantly burning timeouts for no reason too. That cost us dearly again today, especially at the end of the game.

It's just the same crap every week. We aren't very good.
If one is looking for the worst team in the conference and can’t find/decide who it is, one should probably look in the mirror.

If you can tell me where I’m wrong using logic, not feelings, I’d be happy to retract my statement.
X literally leads all of college football (by a fair margin) in receptions. Many of those are big catches that kept drives alive or scored touchdowns. (He lead the Big 12 in touchdown receptions going into the day.). So those are all big plays. I understand you can point to three catches he could have made that would potentially give us three more wins, and I guarantee X is thinking about those too…but we literally wouldn’t have been in the position to have those plays happen/matter if it wasn’t for the plays he did make. He literally made an amazing drive saving catch immediately before the one he missed.

It's one of those little margin things...on the Dekkers fumble play...ISU had just gotten a first down, the defense is on their heels and running back from pass coverage...coming up on two minutes in the game. It would be a great time to get up to the line and keep pressure on the defense by running a quick play. Instead, ISU does the normal meander up to the line, lets UT set up the defense, and calls run a play that at most was going to gain 3-4 yards while exposing the QB to a big hit which ultimately caused a fumble.

It's not a bad play call, but it's just vanilla, and does nothing to put pressure on the defense and take advantage of the situation. Pass blocking was pretty good all day. It's just a little thing, but those little things add up when you are playing good competition week in and week out.

This is a team that always seems to be able to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. When things are on the line we make miscues (Dekker int, X's drop, missed FG again, etc.). I'm just not sure how their mental state will be moving forward as they continue to lose game after game when in every likelihood they should be winning. The odds of another bowl have essentially been flushed down the toilet as the chance of winning three more is pretty slim. I'll be pleasantly surprised when they win one. The off week is coming at a good time. Can the coaches do some magic and create a second season? Only time will tell. In the mean time I just ordered another nut cup from Amazon.
After today I like our chances of winning more than one more game. We can get healthy with the bye week and then let’s see how the rest of the season plays out. I’m not giving up yet.

Not even worried about the L today (even though it sucked), as I think ISU would have beaten both KU and K-State with today's offensive game plan-output. If they play like that the rest of the way offensively (minus the int. and fumble), I like ISU's chances to win the remaining home games and finish 6-6. Glass half full.
While I understand what you're saying, that isn't exactly how sports, especially Iowa St sports, work. This team tends to find different ways to lose each week.

The X botched TD reminded me of Nebraska 2010, guy wide open for the win on the 2-point conversion while the ball is fluttering in the wind, jubilation followed by, yeah, we really did just blow that.
Yes that one was from not sending out the actual QB on that play.
