You've got to feel for the kid, he's got a rather difficult decision to make...

Play for the team you love or...

Play the position you love for their arch-rival.

As I understand it one of the big reasons Boffeli committed to ISU was because Chizik promised him he could play tight end and most other schools were recruiting him as a tackle. Do we really want someone whose judgement was to trust a promise made by Gene Chizik?

You do realize you just insulted every single member of the last two years of recruiting classes right?

Including a number of true freshman from this last season that made a huge impact and we would be devastated if they left.

I've come to expect asinine comments from you, but wow this one takes the cake

Gene Chizik's promises should always be carved in stone. The man's word is gold. :jimlad:

"Anybody who knows myself, my wife, my family, they know that we are firmly entrenched here in Ames. We love this community."

Oh well next.

He hasn't switched his committment yet. We used to beat Iowa pretty often for in-state recruits (Scales, Blythe, Arnaud, Smith, Brant, etc.). That ended with the Pollard/Chizik era, but give Rhoads a chance.

There's a faction our there(I'm not one of them) that thinks in state recruits aren't worth going after anyway...

I would go as far and say there is a faction where NOTHING is ever fast enough, big enough, good enough, coached well enough....well you get the point....

Disappointing and wearing at times...

Not to mention a large portion of the fan base.

I think he knows players change positions from what they were recruited for all the time in college, and he'd rather play for his favorite team than just the one that told him what he wanted to hear.

Who cares... good riddance

That's the spirit.

And if he stays you'll then be saying how you're so glad he isn't changing his commitment because you just know he's going to be the next big thing. I think he will be the next big thing. But for Iowa.

Maybe the new ISU staff isn't telling him he's a TE like the old staff.

No, if he stays, I'll be saying great. But I thought when he signed he didn't act as like he wanted to be here. When a kid doesn't want to be somewhere, they won't be happy and they usually won't succeed.

Conor sounds like a great prospect, and if he wants to be a Clone. AWESOME. If he doesn't, good riddance, get out and we'll find someone who does want to be a Clone to use that scholarship on.

The reason I said what I said, is I also think he'll be a Hawkeye. He stated all along that he grew up a HUGE Hawkeye fan and was dissappointed when they wanted him to be a lineman. If he wants to be a hawkeye, then peace out, enjoy the drive to Iowa Crappy. If he wants to be a Cyclone, then great, practice hard and make sure you get out there and find some good looking sorority girls to campanile with.

He's good as gone. He just hasnt ever seemed to be that proud to be a 'Clone.

I agree the kid never really wanted to come to Ames ...he just wanted to be in iowa city so as far as I'm concerned let him go and good riddance to him!!!!!

We have gotten guys in the past by telling them they had a chance to play the position they wanted. Some later switched and some didn't. We got Hicks that way. I'm sure there are plenty of others.

Doesn't that make us just as pathetic as Nebraska though?

Isn't that why Jamaine Billups came here? I thought most everyone was recruiting him for defense and we offered him a chance at RB.

I think a lot of schools wanted Seneca Wallace to play DB. ISU gave him a shot to play QB and I think it worked out ok.
