From the Article:

“I can tell you that from a TV perspective we’ll go up [in value],” Yormark said. “We’re not going backwards, we’re not staying flat. Whether we can get an early extension or not, we’re looking at increased numbers, which are indicative of the value of this conference and our members.”

Don’t shoot this down immediately. Does anyone else think OU or TX could back out of their sec deal? 1) they’re playing in the big 12 through 2025 2) especially for an OU looking at the sec right now - don’t their boosters have to think their current program would be bottom half of that league? They have to be second guessing at least a little. TX can go eff off as their ego knows no bounds. For some reason I could see OU wanting out of the deal.

No chance. Nobody is giving up a seat in the P2.

Just playing Devil's Advocate here, but if OU and UT don't jump ship to the SEC then there is no P2. The B12 would be in good position to selectively poach from the Pac or eventually the ACC and we would be in a P3 or P4 world. And honestly, OU and UT would probably have a better path to a championship in that world. B1G and SEC would still be the biggest money conferences, but the gap wouldn't be as big. That is no different than now.

There will be more easy teams for OU and Texas to play in the SEC, they won’t play Alabama and Georgia every year. Well, until the SEC Championship I guess.

I don't think so. They may have buyers remorse in a couple years of playing in the SEC after they realize they aren't winning as much as they are in the Big 12. From what I can recall, this all started when the Big 12, several years ago asked the networks, or paid a consultant to determine what they're worth was and that number came in below expectations, especially that of OU and Texas. This causing them to look elsewhere because they didn't want to fall behind monetarily. In hindsight, if they would have stayed, we probably would have been alright, and continue to be in third place behind the Big10 and SEC. Whether that gap grew or not is unknown.

With that said, I don't think they will be looking back because 1) both of those schools have kind of dreamed of going to the SEC. 2) They think they will continue with their current success, and probably think that the Big12 is holding them back from their full glory. 3) Their egos.

You can’t honestly believe that there are more east teams in the SEC. There are 8 sec teams in the top 20 recruiting rankings, the big 12 without OUT has zero. Each of those 8 teams individually has more 4/5 stars then the entirety of big 12 combined.

Somehow Kansas State has been the reason for the Cow's futility for years and years

No chance they rethink the SEC move. The decision makers at the highest level care about one thing only and B1G/SEC provide them with that. See: Nebraska.
I see your point. But when I look at OU I honestly feel they’ll do a little better than Mizzou in the sec, but not by much. Which will be like .500 in that league

Yeah they are going to do significantly better then Mizzou because they actually bring in the talent to compete with the big boys. Venables might not be the coach, hard to tell in year one especially when they lost so much talent but comparing them to Mizzou is ridiculous

Yeah, I think they will be more like A&M with regular 8 and 9 win seasons with a season or two sprinkled in here or there where they do a little better or a little worse than that.

Which is a solid step down from where they've been in the B12. Over time that could go either direction, but historically teams that have switched conferences in the past 30 years have done worse on average.

They won’t recruit better than A&M, LSU, Bama, Georgia, probably FL. That already puts them 6th in the league?

I always think its funny when people post stuff like this that is immediately disproven. For 2023 they are ranked #4 behind bama and georgia with a first year coach. A&M was a one time thing last year and currently sit at 18th.
