I've noticed lately I've been having like 1 drink a night most nights lately. I only have more than 2 or 3a few times a month. Wondering if I should be worried about this or not.

If you have to ask the question......

I knew it was time to cut back when I craved a beer like I craved water. Went from a nice to have to an urge. I shut the refrigerator door and dried out for a bit. I've never hit it close to that hard for some time

But to each their own

No. In fact 1 a day is good for your heart like baby aspirin. Now if its a 12 pack 7 nights a week, probably not healthy. I drink 2-3 most nights, and on weekends more.

As my father used to say, you've got to lose your mind every now and then to stay sane.

Probably not a reason to be too concerned, particularly if you're rarely hitting it much harder than one per night. But that's also hard to answer without knowing much about your health.

Still, even if it isn't a chemical dependency, I'd probably try to break myself of the habit. I've cut back myself and found it to be like exercising...not something I especially want to do, but something I've never regretted having done.

It still is a Cyclone State.

I'll go a few months having a few drinks nightly, then clean it up for a month or 6 weeks going dry, then get back on it. I'll usually go Jan/Feb dry, then pick it back up in March, and it'll be nightly. Both of our daughters have struggled a bit with anxiety/depression, brings a lot of ups and downs and as a result brings much stress to us, so while I know it's not healthy I'll use the drink as a mechanism to take that edge off and give my brain a break.

I used to hit the whiskey bottle pretty hard. Recently have cut way back on whiskey and will usually just have a few beers a few times a week.

This is why I've tried to cut back on whiskey. It really spikes my anxiety and depression the next day.

That's a great analogy, not something I want to do but something I've never regretted. I'm of the opinion as long as it's not negatively affecting other areas of your life (relationships, work, etc), you probably have it under control. I'm sure there are exceptions to that, of course.

Very, VERY rarely during the week, and when I do that, it’s 95% of the time a work function where I’ll have 1 or 2.

Friday and Saturday, on the other hand…

I only tend to drink when i'm out with friends and rarely drink at home by myself. That isn't more than 1-2 nights a week that i'll go out

I've had eras where I drank more often, I don't plan on going back to.

Used to drink regularly. 4-7 times a week. Over the last 5 and half years, it’s been only at get togethers when I drink and it’s normally only a few. I’ll have a one or two every so often at home, but I just have so little desire to drink anymore and absolutely no desire to get drunk anymore.
