Wow. Very proud to call Iowa State my alma mater, that they would recruit the type of player like David and others. Kinda has the same feel as Brian Piccolo and Gayle Sayers in Brian's Song.

Think I've shared this before but had the pleasure of being David and a few others next door neighbor my senior year at ISU. Unsurprisingly, he's as good of dude as he comes across (Kene too). Favorite story is probably one time they came and knocked on our door asking if they could borrow our shovel to scoop out their driveway after a bunch of snow. When they brought it back they scooped our driveway out too.

Some of David's uncles and other family would stop by a lot and drink with us on home game weekends. Just all around good people

I was watching the ESPN Monday Night Countdown. This story obviously has been told several times in our area and our Cyclone Nation. But ESPN got ahold of it and took it to a whole new level.

Win or Lose. David Montgomery: Thank You for being a fantastic human being.

I had never heard or seen this story. David is a first class human being and Hunter is a rockstar.

The great thing is this story was out there back when David was at ISU, but he didn't say anything about it. He didn't do it for the attention or pub. He just did it. This is the kid that in college sent whatever money he had left over after paying bills to his brother in prison.

With all the great upper classmen we had, ultimately it was this unheralded Freshman that started getting people to the practice facility on their own time at night. He was the start of "player driven leadership" under Campbell at ISU.

There have been and will be better players from ISU, but I think he may go down as the most important player, certainly in the Campbell era. Dude is always winning in the dark.

I clicked on the video, not planning to watch it last night, just to see what the fuss was about. 6.5 minutes later . . .

The Bears OL and offensive gameplan looked coherent last night. That's a big leap from where they've been in previous years. They are using Montgomery and Herbert well, which means less carries for Montgomery, but I liked how they used them last night. It was great to see Montgomery come in and have them feed him 3 times in a row to put the game out of reach.
