Wash lost their QB last week. Too many young players on their line. They should just snap the ball to Watts McBride and run wildcat with two upperclassmen blocking backs in the backfield.I don't expect much from CR Wash tonight. Lost to Xavier earlier in the year 38-0. Due to injuries they have some young talent getting playing time lately. At least one freshman starting on D.
Damn that's a haul for Clarinda (the 2A Cardinal). Caught it on FB that they were traveling to Rock Valley and I had to look it up as I had never heard of it. Longest we ever traveled was when we played at Johnston my sophomore year, although Denison was almost as far. Of course we were 3A back then.
I knew he got hurt, didn't know how bad. I saw him in a boot at school earlier this week. This won't be pretty.Wash lost their QB last week. Too many young players on their line. They should just snap the ball to Watts McBride and run wildcat with two upperclassmen blocking backs in the backfield.
Some years back when the state temporarily had 32-team playoff fields for all classes, Mason City qualified for the big-school class. That's the result of coaches wanting 32 teams in the playoffs -- top 4 get in out of 6-team districts in 1A and 2A. You can go 0-3 non-district and 2-3 in district and get in.
Union (2-6) and Iowa Falls-Alden (2-6) in 2A, and East Sac (2-6) in 1A.

At 1-8.
Since their sole win was over a winless team in their district, they finished fourth out of five, and since the top four teams in each district qualified, they were in.
Do you mean Epps-Keller or Cain? I’m broadcasting the game tonight and according to Wash Epps-Keller is listed to start. I know Cain was the starter the first part of the season but Epps-Keller had been playing more lately.I knew he got hurt, didn't know how bad. I saw him in a boot at school earlier this week. This won't be pretty.
I'll be officiating the SE Warren game tonight, they're hosting Fremont-Mills. Looks like it could be a good game, too. Teams look evenly matched on paper, and both coming off close wins in Rd 1.
We've had games with 4 potential champs this season - Harlan (3A), Van Meter (1A), Lynnville-Sully (A), & WACO (8 man). Just heard that we have a game next week but won't know who until Tuesday.
$$$$ that is why the iahsaa wants 32 teamsYeah, 32 of the 48 teams shouldn't be making the playoffs. They need to find some middle ground- somewhere.
Taking just the top 2 (district champ/runner up) could leave some teams out.
I don't get why they just didn't do the RPI systems for all classes and take 16 from all classes. I get the smaller classes have more schools but at the end of the day there are probably 8 solid teams anyway.
nothing against East Sac, Union, and Iowa Falls but they should not get to hang a playoff banner for going 2-6.

Valley lost the monopoly on western suburban talent, which is now split up amongst the two Waukee schools, Johnston, Van Meter and Dallas Center-Grimes. Their run is about finished, just like the hoks. What a shame. Nice stadium however. This Valley team is passionless on offense. Most in the district didn't think they were even going to make the playoffs, something like a 30 year streak snapped. WMD Valley's days of sports dominance are coming to a close as districts in the metro continue to grow.
It’s a formal agreement, however valley gets all of the concession money along with the rental fee. Dowling would rather help out the east side, so they go there for playoff games. It will be interesting to see what happens when the shiny new field being built next to the Knapp Center gets finished.Dowling only plays regular-season games at Valley. Whether that's a formal or informal agreement, I have no idea.

We had Lenox last week for Rd 1. They look like a solid 8 man team this year. CAM/Lenox will be a good 8 man game tonight.
We didn't get to advance as a crew so we're done for the year.riffing!
