Gonzaga's main recruiter for international players was Tommy Lloyd, now head coach of Arizona. Who knows how that will affect their ability to recruit internationally going forward, but if you ask Gonzaga fans they are concerned that without him that well is dry.I think a big part of the Gonzaga idea people aren't thinking about is their recruiting base. Gonzaga pulls a ton of international recruits.
Yormark wants national exposure. Even if football pays the bills in the USA, basketball is significantly more popular world wide. Taking a team with in an international pipeline, maybe the biggest one in CBB, getting a new timezone, and getting a quality program? Yeah thats a W.
Remember, Yormark doesnt wait for the dust to settle. He makes the dust. He's currently finding holes in the market and attacking them, just like we were told he'd do.
Imagine the money that could come if we get really established fandoms in say, the UK and Australia. Or we find a way to hit our product in Europe. We're never closing the money gap in the USA alone. But by going international with a sport that has more value overseas, and being the first one to do it? Yeah, that would be huge
Just means we need to grab Arizona as well!
