Wow, those are so not the same.Interstate 5 is pretty straight forward. Washington State is out there, Spokane as well.
When Colorado was in the conference, it wasn’t exactly close.

I didnt say it was the entire reason, I said PART of the reason. We don't need any more reasons to have issues in our conference.
NIL will force schools like Iowa State to recruit more international students. Look at the Houston Astros. They have several Dominican Republic natives on their roster, including one they signed for $10,000 As a 17 or 18 year old. That is incredibly cheap.When/If ISU starts to take a dip on MBB recruiting and attrition (outside of Hunter's unique situation) due to MBB NIL shortcomings, I will not take the drama queen approach of currently labeling it as "horrible".
ND plays 5 ACC teams in FB every year, but the games do not count in the standings. Point is that ND is a functional non-football member of the ACC.What's the compensation arrangement for ND home games vs ACC teams?
Gonzaga doesn’t have football, and would be joining the Big12 in basketball. So Gonzaga could win a Big12 championship, as they would be a member.ND plays 5 ACC teams in FB every year, but the games do not count in the standings. Point is that ND is a functional non-football member of the ACC.
Of course, just like Notre Dame is a member of the ACC in Basketball (and other sports) and can win the ACC Championship in Basketball (and other sports) too.Gonzaga doesn’t have football, and would be joining the Big12 in basketball. You are right! They appear to only have 4 this year, but I could have missed someone.
UNC will never go to the Big 12 - They have basically turned down the SEC, and the likely have an open invite to the Big 10 - Duke doesn't bring the money football wise, and if the ACC imploded- maybe, but UNC to the big 12 is a pipe dreamI’m a little late to the party, but I think this might be the first step in some larger moves for the Big12. Bring in the Zags and then use that leverage to make other moves to make the Big12 the premier basketball conference.
Imagine if, in a few years, FSU and Clemson leave for the SEC- the Big 12 goes in and picks up Duke and NC.
In the immediate, use the Zags move to poach the AZ schools or even Wash/Oregon.
I don’t think the Zags move is intended to be a singular move- feels like the Big12 is laying the groundwork for bigger moves.
Whar' fran and the hoks? Free pizza kills the net revenue side. How is TCU so high? Have to say the numbers are surprising.

Probably unrelated but still
Maybe Yormark has a long term plan that he hasn’t completed revealed to the public yet. Not maybe. Not against Gonzaga, but unless we are going to add Pac12 schools I'm not sure I see the fit for Gonzaga. BYU would their closest opponent and I would assume if we add Gonzaga it's not just MBB, but all their sports.
I am not crazy about adding schools that don't have football because I believe we will eventually see a P3 and I would prefer the Big12 create a 20-24 team conference based on schools that offer FB. If the Big12 eventually adds some Pac teams, then I could see Gonzaga as a fit.
I applaud Yormark for turning over every stone to see where the Big12 can create revenue. I would be curious what he thinks college sports will look like in 5 years, 10 years & 15 years. There is so much up in the air right now with college sports, that long-range planning probably feels like throwing darts in the dark with NIL, Realignment, New Media Platforms, NCAA Reform, Student Athlete Employee Status, etc.
Agree. I am glad that BY is commissioner and not CF posters because the majority of people here lack strategy and vision and only view the world as it is now not how it could be.I think a big part of the Gonzaga idea people aren't thinking about is their recruiting base. Gonzaga pulls a ton of international recruits.
Yormark wants national exposure. Even if football pays the bills in the USA, basketball is significantly more popular world wide. Taking a team with in an international pipeline, maybe the biggest one in CBB, getting a new timezone, and getting a quality program? Yeah thats a W.
Remember, Yormark doesnt wait for the dust to settle. He makes the dust. He's currently finding holes in the market and attacking them, just like we were told he'd do.
Imagine the money that could come if we get really established fandoms in say, the UK and Australia. Or we find a way to hit our product in Europe. We're never closing the money gap in the USA alone. But by going international with a sport that has more value overseas, and being the first one to do it? Yeah, that would be huge
Those are some weird ass numbers. How is TCU so high? Have to say the numbers are surprising.
